they seem to be taking better care of their Type 23’s than we are, although I wonder why they have removed the harpoons from HMS Grafton

The Germans have a number of Eurofighters they dont want any more, that wont happen though based on prices.

Your right the only way to really hurry this along would be to get a bid in from Russia on a number of Mig 29’s or something.

Im still in favour of bailing on this and buying the Rafale, if it werent for the work share we get. Although to be honest. We should be able to keep the work given our investment.

Keep building the fans e.t.c and BAE can build the Rafales from kits supplied by the Frenchies.

Both carriers get cats and gear and we get 2 fleet carriers with good alround aircraft!

4x Exocet (since the whole point of the design is modularity that could presumably be swapped out for Harpoon with no drama or more likely FFBNW Harpoon)

Couple of small calibres (20mm GIATs I think)

Lightweight fish

The two small versions have a quad pack fore and aft of a French manpad (mistral?). The bigger version has a VLS for’d for Mica

I think that SIGMA could be the basis for a very successful RAN OPV and C3 for RN

the rate they are churning our Frigates and destroyers at the moment is amazing.

Now i dont know the quality of these vessels or their ability to match the west, but its impressive, what do you think guys 2015 China becomes a truely Blue Water navy?

both the type 45 and type 23 would be able to keep up with the carrier if it was steaming to get some place at 30 knts. Thats the point you want a carrier to be able to do this in emergency situations.
