[QUOTE=AndyY;2296162]Comparing the location of MOSI and the Woodford museum, to me MOSI wins hands
Hi All,
Andy,
If I remember correctly the kids had to push a button to initiate the movement but it was such a great site to see at the time as much for ma as the kids…:D
As for moving her under her own steam I sure it would not take to much as I remember she looked really good and has just sat looking pretty in her retirement after all they have just got the ‘Flying Scotsman’ back on her feet yet again after another in depth restoration haven’t they ?
Meddle,
Of coarse which else ? 😀 and I would know were I would shove one concerning this whole affair….:stupid:
Paul,
I still think that a simple bridge is the way forward just because something is not in use does not mean that it cannot be utilised in the future by some means or am being to optimistic ?
Geoff.
Hi All,
From one to three…..:D
Geoff.
Hi All,
Peter,
Many thanks for the link excellent footage better than just reading about these excellent men and their projects…..:eagerness:
Has to be a great guy his names GEOFF 😀
Seriously though all those who endeavour to recreate and memorialise the men who actually flew in whatever aircraft that are having the cockpits constructed need to be applauded especially when you think of the research alone before the actual start of the construction I take my hat of to you ‘Mr Brown’ and indeed all other builders of various aircraft sections well done ……….:applause:
Geoff.
Hi All,

Hi All,

Like trumper said nothing to apologise for, I just thought I would look on their web site and check to see if Leamington Spa has a works store which is does, but also just out of interest in case Leamington never had a store. So next thing is to threaten the wife into getting us one when in town if available, so many thanks for your original post matey…..:eagerness:
Just a shame as Rosevidney1 pointed out already that Mr Brown has now passed on may he RIP…..:(
Geoff.
Hi All,

Geoff.
Don’t get me going on “Thinktank” in Birmingham. I was a regular visitor to the old Science and Industry museum in the city centre, and always enjoyed it. Then they moved it out of the centre, gave it a silly name, only display half the objects and hide those that they have with floor-to-ceiling banners which make photography difficult, and introduced an excessive charge to get in. I have only visited once a couple of years ago now, and was totally disappointed.
Looking at the Hurricane and Spitfire, I was annoyed by the lack of a detailed history of these two aircraft, so sought out one of the curatorial staff to ask why not. I was told that I was rather an unusual visitor to want to know this sort of thing!Andy
Hi All,
Andy,
What happened to the ‘City Of Birmingham Loco’ ? I remember taking my tow kids around that museum in the eighties and the Loco used to move forward a couple of feet then reverse. Is the Loco still at the old site or was it moved to the mentioned ‘Thinktank’ and if so does it still move ?
As for the debacle about the chord surely an easy fix build a bridge instead of severing the line not rocket science is it ? But different rules for different people always applies the bigger they are they always end up getting their way sod the basic rules that everyone else has to abide by. Just as an example there is a call centre and a college opposite where I live and I was always under the impression that if you build you have to take into account the surrounding area and buildings but both look like something from a modern industrial estate, one looks it belongs on an airfield the other looks like an office block considering the area was a housing and rural area we as the locals never got a look in at all.
It’s not surprising this debacle is happening when the main players are more than likely suggesting it’s evolution of whatever possibly suggesting lower visitor numbers are direct proof for their cause. The government and local council should be enforcing the regulations that where allegedly put into place to protect such structures and lands wherever they are situated, especially when it appears that the opposition has just been dismissed with a summary wave of a hand. It’s just the rich getting their own way yet again at the expense of others, it’s a shame there are no local MP’s in the immediate and surrounding areas that have a passion for aircraft and railways alike, you can bet if this so aclled chord was to sever a local dignitary’s or well to do persons own piece of land or treasured building this would not be getting the go ahead.
Geoff.
