 I think this has been mentioned before in similar restoration threads but the thought experiment Ship Of Thesis:- ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus ) comes to mind.  After all how many aircraft no matter what Age / Era have had various bits and bobs replaced over time ?

Nothing can be 100% original if you actively use it, it’s just a fact of mechanics if like eventually something will Wear out / Break and then need replacing no matter how insignificant the part,  on the other hand if there is an attempt to deceive mixed in then that is a no no and quite rightly be called out as fake.

Hi All,

Possibly this aircraft:-  https://aircrewremembered.com/hampshire-rj.html   In your photo the Pilot is wearing glasses and has a tache,   in the picture I discovered below the chap on the far right looks pretty similar just not wearing glasses.  If you scroll down the linked page you will see there is a note attached that MZ813 was formally known as  ( RCAF 424 Sqdn- QB-B – Bambi ) before being transferred to ( RAF 158 – Sqdn Recoded NP-Y based at RAF Lisset.)

As for the difference in art I can only assume that they where ordered to cover it up for the promotional shot before as the word CANADA was not part of the original design added just for this publicity shot.

Excellent progress news inching closer and closer to that final day when G-TEMPT will get the wind under wheels and fly again, you never know with the possibility of the 2nd Tempest MW758 being made airworthy we will see two magnificent beasts in the air over the UK again :- )

 I also had a good root around and found nothing even the BBC-World Service gave no real help, you would have to listen to every pod cast that is in the archives for the last couple of weeks and realistically that would take a while I think. (Wellinto258:- A date may help please matey ?)

But what I have found is quite interesting as regards a brief history of the Hurricanes that were sent to Russia, Their journey and troublesome beginnings, Pilot’s / Actions / Ground Crew / Flight Operations / etc. etc. etc. until the RAF went back home after the Russians had learnt all they needed to know regarding the Hurricanes  https://lend-lease.net/articles-en/raf-hurricanes-in-russia/

Regarding the lend lease of these aircraft and the finances it appears that while it may have been the finances and material product America would have had no control over the end of those products life if deemed US.

 Whether the move was imminent or mismanaged that has lead up to this sad state of affairs is another issue,  recriminations could be tackled when the move was completed and the airframes have been saved. 

It just seems to me that there was nobody anywhere willing to either step in and help out with the Funding / Time / Facilitating / Planning logistics of moving such a huge collection of airframes,  along with an obvious highly detailed plan of action from start to finish that was not done it appears like I already stated recriminations after the move.

Keeping the collection in tact rather than rare-ish airframes being offered for sale on EBay to then fund other rare-ish airframes being scrapped does not make sense to me and IMHO is totally unacceptable.  Especially When it appears there are vast sums being spent elsewhere,  like I eluded to a simple repayment loan from the government as a last ditch safety net would have done the job.

Hi All,

 Another late post but a sighting of  four Shawbury Helicopters flying East over L/Spa. I have to be perfectly honest here myself and the wife had just returned from our diabetic eye screening Fri 18/06 between 15:30/16:00 approximately when madam spotted them as I had just entered the house,  I came back outside and saw them a vic three followed by a single of what were certainly FTS – Juno HT1’s.

Actually I literally just thought I would check mid post,  this from RAF Shawbury’s Faceache page:- ( https://www.facebook.com/RAFShawbury/?locale=en_GB )  Indeed three of the Juno’s did lead the flypast for Charles B’day, so did I see the practise being evaluated by a fourth ?
