    Very interesting indeed!

If my information is correct, I think you’ll find Mr Fullilove was also heavily involved with the whole FlyWho thing as well as Mr Murcott.

Looks like another cheap off the shelf website judging by the “Lorem ipsum dolor” latin stuff all over the recruitment page…

    Hi

This can’t be right. The Paris route is one off the better performing routes from LBA for bmi regional. Theses Flights are always over 35/40 passengers on them. Even though it’s up against a 1 daily mid day Jet2 B737-300 service.

If any route was under performing from LBA for bmi regional I would say it’s the Glasgow route. Passenger figures a dropping like fly’s just at the moment for some reason. They are having to stick the smaller ERJ135 on sometimes, as they can’t even fill the larger ERJ145 that is scheduled to operate the route.

Its not as cut and dried as that I’m afraid. It doesn’t matter how many bums on seats you have. With an airline like bmi, its about yield too. I used to be a manager in the sales department for years, so I should know!

Bmi used to rely on business class yield, but obviously now they rely on people buying the more expensive flexible tickets on non-business class routes. Bmi regional rely on business class yield. If we have 30 or 40 bums on seats who’ve all paid £25.00 each way, doesn’t make for a profitable flight does it?

Maybe there has been another influx of visitors to the site, who all want to apply for Cabin Crew positions. Perhaps the site couldn’t handle all that traffic.

    Probably! :p

    LMAO!!!

The flysunjet.com website appears to have been removed altogether!

    What happened?

Was it closed down by choice or some other reason?

Looks like 8th July start-up for Flywho is out of the window (again!).

Their website is now showing first flight as being July 29th, yet more delays! Can’t imaging what their potential passengers must be making of it all.

Do we think they’ll make the 29th July?!

I thought JN was the schedualed Code For Excel Airways?

    Jon

Yep, they do use “JN” for scheduled flights. However, there is no such thing as a scheduled designator code, think about Easyjet using “EZY”, they’re not charter yet use a 3 letter code. Also, Thomson charter (Britannia as was), using “BY”, yet they are charter.

Airlines are usually issued with a two and three letter code each, one by IATA and one by ICAO I believe. They can use whichever they want, whichever way around.

    Hi Astraeus,

I’ve just got off BA6831 from Arrecife to Manchester last night, operated by GB Airways.

To answer some of your questions, the two aircraft they had based there at the moment are G-TTOD and G-TTOI. Both have full leather seats and IFE in the drop down screens above your head form. However, the one thing that did let them down was that they charge £3.00 to HIRE the headsets, then collect them back in. Most passengers didn’t bother! We had a full length film each way followed by comedy stuff. Not sure what you’ll get on Dubrovnik because of the flight time.

Meals are still being served, and comp drinks. We had proper hot meals both ways (Beef outbound, Chicken inbound), not just pizza. It was a full tray set up served to each passenger. One word of warning… the crew only seem to bother doing one drinks service so ask for everything you want the first time you see them as they won’t come back for the rest of the flight!

The crew were ok, although some seemed a little grumpy. They go mad if any passengers dare venture through the curtain into Club Europe during the flight, so don’t even think about it unless your already booked up front. It was quite embarrasing watching them marching people back out!

T3 at Manchester is a good terminal, no hassles there. Make use of the online check-in if you can, saves a lot time!

Give me a shout if you have any other questions. Have a good trip!

    🙂

That picture your referring to looks very much like the Premium Cabin seats I had on G-EOMA, but the pic looks squashed as the seat pitch was better than that.

G-EOMA definately had seat back TV’s, although not very state of the art and not AVOD.

Do monarchs premium cabins have seat back Tv’s?
    I just found this website:

    http://www.discoveregypt.co.uk/flight-information.php

Along the top it shows pictures of monarch seats with PTV’s.

So its definatley an A321 being used.
Aren’t G-MARA and G-OJEG different from the other A321’s in that their TV’s aren’t flip down but in the aisle like the 757.
Also im taking it the interior is not leather too like some A320’s and A321’s of Monarchs.

Never seen a Monarch aircraft with leather seating! 😮

When I flew them a year and half ago, I was on G-EOMA in Premium and that still wasn’t leather seating, just leaf green cloth instead of the usual blue.

Think you could be right about the TV’s though. I’m sure I’ve seen some of the Airbus fleet with aisle screens.

But you can’t book flights scheduled after the 23rd. And the slot wasn’t bmibabys, it was Air Wales’. When baby handed the route over to 6G to operate, they gave their slots to them as well. bmibaby was just like the booking agent, nothing more.

Maybe Air Wales will sell the slots back to baby then. I would imagine they could do with the cash!

I don’t think they’ve thought of mainline as being the back-bone of the business for a long time now.

Its a well known fact the bmibaby is the only thing keeping the group afloat and has been for quite a while.

We can only hope they come to their senses and remember what gave them a good name in the first place!

    Some very valid points here.

I think bmi have been reeling from one disaster to another recently. Don’t forget though… they’re known for changing their minds frequently so I wouldn’t think it will be long before we see a total u-turn again on the LHR service and introduction of baby fares.

Sounds like the long-haul service, which used to be top-knotch has gone down the pan too, what with the introduction of the 757, now the 767, paying for drinks etc. Its not what they were known for.

Ever since I was involved with the launch of bmibaby, the “keep the passengers seperate from mainline” concept hasn’t worked. Customers will call any number and stand in any queue possible, yet if they were baby customers they would get short shrift if they were in the wrong place!

Maybe a little rebranding all round might do the trick?

    Totally agree with you.

I would put money on them subbing it out to Atlantic or probably even European Air Charter as they favour them a lot when the 737’s are in for maintenance.

Can’t see them loosing the slot at any cost.

I would’nt be surprised if BMI Baby operate it in the short term using aircraft sub chartered in , most likely someone like Air Atlantique.
The Important thing for baby is to continue to operate the route otherwise they lose the slots at CDG , which are worth their weight in gold.

I heard from a friend that they’ve recently laid off some new entry pilot’s they’d taken on.

I would suspect their cash flow sheet must make quite interesting reading with all the chopping and changing and the reference to becoming sustainable by the airline representative further up!

If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t Eirjet set-up by some former Ryanair staff?
