As an ex-BD employee also… the EMB145 has to have 2 cabin crew in the UK dependant on how many rows back down the aircraft have been used. Its all about the fact it has nearly 18 rows of seating. We were also told it was 2 crew operation because of the shout commands not being heard at the back in an emergency situation!
Whiskey Delta – We don’t have a pax seat removed as such, the rear jump seat is still in front of the Lav door, much like your US version I imagine? The reason why the BD and BA models have 49 seats is the closet at the front is where you probably have seat 1A.
Don’t forget bmi operated BRU from MAN after Sabena went down. They did it on a 146 (ex Debonair if I remember correctly). There was hardly anyone on it, which is why it was pulled not long after it started.
BRU has always been a big of a dead dog, sometimes the EMA-BRU only goes with 5 or so pax!
Really can’t see them getting back into that one again from MAN.
If you go to http://www.canadian-affair.com and get a quote on the flights your talking about, it will tell you the aircraft type.
Handy site to know 😉
bmi operations department, and a fleet of clapt-out 737’s, and flight crew on sector pay, what a classic combination!!!
And people wonder why they’re not arriving where they should be! At least they’re not operating the F100’s anymore.
I was at STN yesterday, and they were still taking off from there. Not sure where too though 😉
I can see bmibaby scrapping the Dublin before long. They won’t be able to compete on Ryanair’s fares, and bmibaby is virtually empty on most of the weekday services to and from Dublin from what I’ve heard!
As for the MJV, I think baby will continue with it anyway. Apparently, its always pretty much full.

I have just found out that Travel City have definately ditched European Aviation in favour of Air Atlanta Europe! I think the number of flights per week in the summer will be slightly reduced, and Air Atlanta will be kitting out their 747’s to be able to offer Travel City’s “Upper Deck” and “Sunshine First” type of products.
Poor old European, all out in the cold now then! What’s going to happen to their fleet (well, the one’s with engines still attached anyway!).
Could this still be EAL operating with the aircraft being re-painted in Travel City colours?
I suppose it could be EAL or Air Atlanta with the Travelcity colours. After all, Air Atlanta have a 747 in Virgin colours at MAN already.
Me thinks someone’s knicked my avatar!!!
I’m wondering if the A321’s are always on DUB because we have DUB based crew’s who also operate charters on them.
Yes the flights are always full at weekends and stuff, but DUB charters are usually on A321’s too from what I’ve heard.
Apparently, its the only thing that keeps the DUB crew’s sane, as they get tired of only doing DUB-LHR-DUB!
Jeanske – The Fokkers are not the most reliable, put it like that! The aim seems to be to have an all Airbus fleet on mainline operations.
The Embraer fleet is operated by bmi regional only, and they have a seperate op’s control in ABZ.
Shamrock – The LHR-INV has already been downgraded to a Fokker 100 according to our res system! Where ever you saw it as a A321 must be out of date. It was originally an A321 correct.
There are 4 A319’s due between now and next year, all to replace the Fokker 100 fleet.
They’re all leased from what I know. Rumour has it that the first flight will be LHR-PMI-LHR tomorrow (currently scheduled on a Fokker 100). Not confirmed though.
I think the first aircraft is to be allocated to the LHR-BRU route, then further aircraft to go onto the LHR-LBA, LHR-ABZ and LHR-MME routes.
OMG! Not that old chestnut again!
Which news channel was this heard then?
Yes, its all very true.
If you go onto the recruitment section of the Ryanair website, and follows the links, its goes into detail about having to pay for your own course and your only guaranteed a job if you pass it.
I think the French have to pay for their cabin crew training too don’t they? I’m sure someone told me they have to attend some sort of academy and pay for it all. Can anyone confirm this?
Ryanair do have a cheek though. They know people are silly enough to pay it, the ones who are desperate to become cabin crew anyway!
Maybe Kalitta Air Cargo? They come in and out of EMA once or twice a week at the moment on a 747.
