As far as I know, First Choice will be First Choice Airways flying on the A321. I don’t think they have more than one type based there at the moment.
Probably best to check exactly what destination it is in the Canary Islands, then check an airport guide or your nan’s holiday invoice.
Would this route be an extension of an inbound German originating flight with German crew, or do Air Berlin have UK based crew’s as well now?
Anyone know???
EMA summer schedule is at:

Cheers Andy.
Hadn’t heard of that site before.
Well said Adam! I can see your point.
However, as with Phil’s comment, I too received a normal paper printed boarding pass when checking in at Malaga with easyJet. I’m not sure how they work ex-UK. I would imagine there main bases might adopt the plastic card approach but I think EMA for one is still paper boarding cards as its handled and checked-in by Servisair Globeground.
Isn’t free seating meant to save time at check-in rather than during boarding?
1L.
Unless check-in systems have changed dramatically, I can’t see this would apply either. When I was on check-in, seats could either be allocated automatically by the computer or you could input a seat number of your choice. The process took seconds, not enough to make a difference to the speed of checking in.
I think there is a valid point about making sure people are at the gate on time though, ready for the scrum!
Gambia Experience chartered the flight for this winter, but during summer flights are only available from Gatwick with MON I believe. AFAIK they are continuing for next winter as well as a TCX flight.
Thanks happy.
Would that be a TCX flight from EMA or BHX?
I was under the assumption that they were an airline, not a tour operator…
If not, who are they chartering the aircraft from?
I think you’ll find its a loop hole they are utilising when it comes to bonding new start-up airlines. Its extremely costly to bond their type of operation on a scheduled basis, however, by setting up a tour operator (albeit an in-house company), its cheaper to bond a tour operator based on the number of passengers they expect to travel with them.
A new start up scheduled carrier would have to prove financial security to be able to operate for a number of months without carrying a single fare paying passenger. One could assume that there weren’t enough coppers left in the pot to do this seeing as they’ve gone down the tour operator route.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they still need an AOC to operate as a charter carrier, unless they doing it under someone elses AOC as so many new start-ups do now.
I have to agree with Tom’s thoughts on this one. I’ll give them 6 months max.
Tristar and comfort in the same statement??? Isn’t that a contradiction in terms?
I feel some interesting delays may be coming on! 😮
Business Class on the EMB145 will consist of:
1) A gold headrest cover instead of blue, someone might offer to pop your coat in a wardrobe (if the hosties trolley bag isn’t already crammed in it).
2) You might get asked if you’d like a newspaper.
3) Free drinks (but as pointed out, its same throughout both cabins).
4) Cold plated light meal normally on the MAN-ABZ (i.e. Salmon and a few leaves, maybe warm bread roll if the oven is working) or hot brekkie on first morning departures.
5) If your really lucky, we used to come round with boiled sweets for landing too, but think that may have stopped now!
Basically, there’s very little difference between Y class and C class on board the Embraer.
I’m sure you’ll have a great flight anyway!
Thanks Andy!
Try this website…
Richard, you should be fine as long you have some other form of photographic ID and/or a passport if required.
Just smile sweetly at the check-in person! They won’t need to see the card to verify payment.
Fantastic report matey!
And yes… the A340-600 is VERY slow on take off roll and probably even worse than the 300. I was on the 600 last summer from IAD and I had time to read a magazine whilst on take off roll!!! Hehe!!!
I think he might have actually meant G-WJAN
http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19980101-0
Was barely run in when the incident happened.
Yes, your right Tom. It wasn’t G-PIDS, it was G-WJAN. I remember the incident quite clearly as it was unusal for Airtours (as they were then) to be operating POP from BHX, hence it being a 757 via BGR.
Thanks for clearing that up!
Cheers guys.
Tom – I didn’t know it was on Carsurvey yet? I can’t see it!
