This one?
No this is another incident.
The fury rebild is looking good as it has only been ad DX for 4 days now.
I agre its loucking rely grate int it.
I read on wikipedia today that apparently The fighter collection at duxford had or has a Ki-43 unter restoration it it true?
Its in storage not unter restoration:rolleyes:
Hope they leave it natural metal
With all the grey primer on the fillets and tail, and the grey gear doors?
I doubt it!!
At Last.
Very nice.
Well done to Chris and the team.
PRU schemes always look a bit dull
IMHO It looked better when it was in USAAF scheme.
Because they can lay hands on three P-51’s here
Why lay your hands on P-51s over here when you have so many of your own?
A36
P-51C ‘Princess Elizabeth’
P-51D ‘Double Trouble Two’
P-51D ‘Febuary’
P-51K ‘Fragile but Agile’
TF-51 ‘Bum Stier’
And im sure i have missed out a couple!
As we have seen in the past at legends sending P-51s to and from the USA is no problem.
Apart from replacement rocker covers and minor items such as ignition harness, plugs etc, its the original engine fitted in 1945.
Don’t forget new pipes,hoses, fittings, ags,etc
Im sure the fuel pump and carb have changed since 1945 as well, not to mention seals, gaskets, the CRMs, pistons, rings etc.
Surely a first for a rebuilt Spit? flying with its original engine?
Will look really nice when it gets back from painting.
SX336 and SX300 are westland built Seafire 17s
Then of course you get Mk 9s that have a 266 fitted.
ML417 and Mk356 to name a couple.
So what mk number are they then? 😀
Hi. I head the ground crew of R4118 and was there working on her on both days. The trouble was she was dumping coolant from the top tank via the pressure releaf valve.
The polot was unaware this was happenning but was told by the other Hurricane, who had a better view.
Pilot decided to land straight away, which was the correct thing to do.
First it was though that the Teddington valve was faulty, but after inspection it was working correctly.
Last weekend at Biggin hill we also had coolant problems.
The week before, the radiator was removed for repair. When it was replaced, we still had pockets of air in the system. The sysrem was bled by us on the Saturday and then the radiator was bled with the engine running.
This looks to have cleared the fault.
I have put it down to ‘trapped wind’
Glad the polot make the choice to land, what a releaf .
Always handy having an ex BBmf engine trade manager around when your aircraft is sick. Glad they sorted the problem out for you.
TFC on facebook…..?
Er.. i think they have more important things to do.
The members page on the blog is still updated.
You just have to join.
As for the re-enactors they are like the commentator, love them or hate them
they are there to stay. Some go to great lengths , i know one who has to dye whats left of his hair to look younger!
Still there, still rotting away…..
Interesting choice, reminds me of piece of cake and Perfect hero.
Would have been nice to see a B.o.b film scheme though………..
Props , engines , wheels , tyres, and manpower, according to the guy who has been working on it off and on for years, hes now doing the P-47.
whilst in danger of dragging this thread wildly off topic here, does anybody know if if Twilight tear is actually coming back to the uk this year?
Has twilight tear ever been back to the UK?
