How many used Flankers do we have available that have been well maintained (after going into storage) and have flawless maintenance records to look at? Furthermore they would need an upgrade.
I think MLUs are perfect for now. And in 10 years time Brazil could probably get EF or Rafale (for the price of the M2k5) and one would know if th Russian AirForce will operate the SU-35 in numbers, as it is currently planed.
But the displays of the Italian G.222 were always worth watching, at least you could hope or something going wrong. 😀
nice pics, but the “go fiesta” always seemd a bit silly to me
And finally a rare visitor to DUS and surely one you would not want to miss
And some more, as we had an easterly wind on sunday which is quite rare at DUS.
The 757 is from Hola Airlines based at Palma de Mallorca, and was new to DUS
If you don´t mind I would like to share some more pics from the last weekend
I hope you enjoy
Well my experience tells me, that third party lenses (like Sigma or Tamron) are close on some occasions, but also in the end the original lenses are a tad better.
So I would always decide based on the lenses. There is no sense in getting a 10D or something and adding a medicore Sigma (those cheap lenses from them) to it.
Apart from that I think the buffer size is important. I´m using the Nikon D100 and it has about 6 frames buffer. Which is adequate for my needs. More would be nice. On that I would strongly recommend the D70 which has a pratically endless buffer with a high-speed CF-card when shooting JPGs.
The globespan rocks
I made more then 350 pics today. I need to process the rest later today and tomorrow. I´ll mail you the AB in 1024×768
Very good for a first try
Great pics for an non digital camera
I have the D100, which has the same power pack as the D70. One fully charged pack is good for about 500 spotting pics. My current one still shows full after 568 pics. I recommend to buy a second unit, but that should be enough.
Apart from that, let me give you some more advice. If you have lenses that you can use on one of the cameras, then it is obvious to go with that camera. If you are starting with no equipment for both, then take a look at the lenses Canon and Nikon offer. Then decide which you would want and then buy the body that fits. Lenses are much more important then the body and they last much longer.
I think the best solution is getting the used F-16MLUs. They are quite close to the M2k5 capability wise and costs much less. They would be sufficent for a decade at least. In a decade from today. And then the Brazilians will also have to search for an F-5 replacement. Which would mean a larger buy and not only 12 planes which would be a legacy force when the other planes need to be replaced.
45% composites. Well what is that talk about the jet with the highest use of composites all about then. That is a pretty standard construction for todays technology then. So it should not have any huge advantage over other contemporary fighters.
And thx for the pic of the Zhuk. I think Arthur wanted to point out that there is very few space left between the radar antenna and the first bulkhead (cockpit section), It could be really problematic to squezze in the full Zhuk-M radar system in that space.
It was not a question of the antenna diameter.
