Yes, I know the list.. Hmm, lemme ask you more.. What are the conditions of ACIG to claim the kill as confirmed?

    conclusive evidence.

    – Pictures of the wreck (an important part here, as most F-16 would have fallen into sysrain held territory)

    – matching pilot reports

    – gun camera pictures

    – matching offical records

    – matching reports and records available from independed authors

Funny enough most F-16 claims first came up in Russia.

    The normal APG-70 – I think

JHMCS and AIM-9X were not used during cope India 2004

Sure ACIG does have a common opinion, or a common current status of research. That is visible in the air combat records we have published on our website.

Those records show the current results of the research done on ACIG.

The F-15Cs participating in Cope India 04 (from Elmendorf, AK) already were equipped with AESA radar.. That is what makes me wonder, how an AESA can be inferior to Cassegrain type..

    Nope they were not.

There is no conclusive evidence that an F-16 has been lost to an MiG-23.

I want to point out that kfadrat is stating his personal opinion, which does not reflect the opinion of the ACIG team.

Well AFAIK know the IDF/AF lost one F-4 and one Kfir to MiG-21s.

    A F-15 was damaged by an R-40 launched from a MiG-25.

In addition they lost an A-4 to a SA-7, which is confirmed by Israel. The other losses are denied by Israel. Although there is pictorial evidence of the contrary.

Even if we add the SU-27M tests, did they come close in numbers and depth to the tests made to the western planes ??

That would really interest me now.

Ah, I guess NATO had as many listening posts, spies and SLAR overflights near the border areas of Afghanistan as they did near Eastern Germany.

Oh, wait a minute Afghanistan was not part of NATO and it is not in western europe. 😮

To be honest with you, I have no interest in touring the city. Our flight arrives FRA from LAX @ 10:25 a.m. on the 15th. I just want to take a nap then find some pub and watch Holland play Germany later on that day. I wonder if it will be safe to wear my Roy Makaay Holland jersey when we go to the pub? 😮

    I would say : NO

Especially as Holland will beat Germany 7:0 or something.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with some german folks. If you ever come to Duesseldorf (DUS) let me know in advance and I will pick you up and bring you to the best spotting places around the airport. (If you come on a sunday) 😀

Arthur, I know they did do those huge excersises on a regular level, but imho not regular enough to get a decent training from it. They worked under the conditions given by the ecercises they made. But those exercises were very much pre-planed so the outcome was know before the exercise started.

Daily training on the other hand consisted of more or less boring and routine flying. For the NVA (East German Airforce) it was often limited to easy intercepts and navigational training. Very few air to air training.

If you look at the time a carrier airwing needs to train before they are able to really function as one big alpha strike, then I think the training given by the WarPac would not have been enough.

12 Mi-6 or 20+ Mi-8 + Mi-24 is a pretty strong force, or a pretty huge target, for fighters, SAMs, AA and manpads.

Those raids would have been unstoppable, but I´m not sure how many raids they could have actually made before losses would have made those huge formations small.

I´m not sure if those war would have gone nuclear that quickly. I think Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the other NATO countries close to the frontline would have objected to NATO first strikes on their country. (Better Red then dead)

The critical time would have been, if NATO forces would have been able to stop the advance of the WarPac forces. Depending on the saituation in the North Atlantic (reeinforcements coming through from the US or not) this could have been decision time for the WarPac. Nuke a hole into the defensive line, or face a long and bloody stalemate.

BTW you don’t seem to be wrong about anything else… despite not even knowing what a Su-27M is… how can I prove you wrong? When you have to fill in a blank line that lists your maximum range and you know it will be compared to the figures given by other competitors are you going to give the lowest estimate or the best case scenario? What do you think the advertising departments of your competitors are going to do? And before you spin any BS the real world experience figures we see are what we are allowed to see and in no way could be considered a reflection of reality… you don’t think they’d just give out that info do you?

To give you more BS. I´m not going to compare manufacture specifications as they are both equally optimised. I´m saying that for most russian hardware, we only have the data given by the manufactures. For most western planes in testing or in service we can also look up the results from the government testing.

If we see that the radar range specified in the planes performance list has been achieved under all required test situations and has been exceeded in a number of those tests, then the number has more worth for me, then any advertising made by the manufacturer.

That is why I´m sceptical about all “promises” made for aircraft until they were proven by tests not done and paid for by the manufacturer.

That also goes for western projects like F-35.
