The 737NG is on a roll and is enjoying some well earned success lately.
Just shows that these things come and go like a see-saw.

Though I beleive the recent successes are due to the reorganisation of Boeing as a whole. Ever since they got Stonecipher back… Boeing has been getting steadily more aggressive. And now they have a new head salesman its seems to be paying off, even without Stonecipher now.

I said it last year that “Now that Boeing has a new CEO expect a more aggressive sales pitching”.
    I told ya’ll so 🙂

Rumors say that the Boeing pricing has become more competitive. 😉

Lu is from a German child program (“Der Maus” I believe it’s called). Next to this A319 there is also A321 D-AIRY featuring a mouse.

“Der Maus” is a program explaining stuff. And in one of their episodes they explained how planes where made. The two planes they used to explain it where A319 D-AILU and A321 D-AIRY.

Initially the planes flew in the regular livery. But after a lot of letters where send in by kids, LH decided to honour Lu and “Der Maus” on the airbusses featured in the program.

    Not quite right.

Lu is the symbol of the Lufthansa child program.

The mouse (Die Maus) is on D-AIRY is there because htis german childrens TV program (Die Sendung mit der Maus) had been fllowing that plane from the cutting of the first metal to the first flight with Lufthansa and had devoted on series to that aircraft.

There is no direct connection between both symbols.

With hit to kill although you have to be more accurate (obviously 🙂 ) you also have more control over WHERE you want to hit the vehicle. As we saw in Desert Storm, many times a Patriot would hit a Scud but the warhead would keep right on coming.

Perhaps that was because the hit to kill variant of the Patriot was not in service then and they used a blast fragmentation wahrhead only modestly modified for use against theatre ballistic missiles.

Iwht the new cap I would not go for the block60s, but for other used F-16 and have them bought up to MLU standard.

I would also skip the I-Hawks and concentrate on some useed Rolands + Stingers instead.

The leaves me with 7 Sqn of MLU updated F-16s and 3 Sqn of updated F-5s for the midterm. Long term target would still be Tranche 2/3 EFs to replacve the F-5s. But those won´t be ready before 2011-12, so the F-5s will have to do for so long at least.

SLAM-ER, JSOW, JDAM, HARM, ALQ-131 and Penguin / NASW are a must for the F-16s though. And I would like AIM-9X + JHMCS and AMRAAM for air to air use.

    urgent changes :

    1. retire the Crusaders
    2. replace with used F-16 prefarably to MLU standard with AMRAAM
    3. built landing strips to disperse my fighters
    4. upgarde the F-5 and add AMRAAM (or derby)
    5. buy SAMs. Patriot, i-HAWK and Crotale NG (or comparable) and some Gepard SPAA. (no russian systems as I believe the enemy knows too much about them)

    midterm changes :

    1. add more F-16 preferably Block 60s and retire the A-4s (perfarably with SLAM-ER + JDAM + JSOW+ Penguin / NASW)
    2. retire 2 Sqn of F-5s as well and replace with F-16 Block 60s
    3. improve the C3 system
    4. harden my airfields
    5. buy 6 AWACS (E-2 or the swedish system)

so that leaves me with 7 Sqn of F-16 including 4 Block 60s. 3 Sqn of upgraded F-5.

    longterm :

replace upgraded F-16s and F-5s with EF, Rafale or F-35. My choice would probably be EF with Meteor missiles.
replace i-Hawk and Crotale with MEADS

    Reasons :

Russian systems are not intersting as I presume that the enemy knows them very well.
French would be an option, but there are not many used M2ks around to fill my short term needs. And operating 3 types would be an unneccesary burden in the long run.
No EF or something, as I can´t get them quickly enough. But a good option in the long term.

I have asked around. Most people said 737 if at all. Or they would need a really really good deal on the 787.

Well it does if you’re interested in the truth rather than propagating fiction. I don’t mean that to sound harsh but how could it possibly HURT to be working with correct info?

No, the max speed is not important. The F-22 accelartes better and the reduced need for afterbruners means it has more fuel can stay at that speed much longer.

Who said that it should? All I’ve been saying from the beginning is that you are trying to compare apples to oranges. The other poster was originally talking about close in combat of which you will not be doing any at 800 knots. Where in that statement does it say an F-22 SHOULD slow down? If you want to stay at 800 knots then that’s great, you’re just not going to be doing a close in gunfight there. An NO I’m not saying you SHOULD.

Again I must ask, why should a F-22 pilot choose to fight a slow dogfight ?
