good idea Smirky…:D
I didnt think, that simple Math, could solve this problem,(one of my worst subjects, lol:o) but yes, that could certainly work, as for the rear of the panel, and fittings, worry about that later, get the instruments first.. theres a idea;)
thanks for the advice 🙂
Ps..
Instrument panels, maybe, .. maybe even more, if i get my teeth into it, but a brigand to put it in….. hmmmmm, I wish , lol .. nice idea though 🙂
Hi Elliott,
Thanks for the heads up, 😀
I have just managed to find myself a copy of the pilots notes on fleabay.. :diablo: ..
lots of nice cockpit shots too, i imagine instruments on the whole are not too hard to find, but the dimensions of panel parts etc , would have to be from drawings, as i believe none of these remain, in a word extinct 🙁 .
I know the bristol aero collection has the mortal remains of a Brigand, but not much survives inside from what i hear, however things may have changed since the photos i’ve seen on the net of her,
I wonder if Airbus, or BAC Filton have any drawings, i did hear (probably rumour) from a worker who worked there in the 1990’s that there was a building on the far side of the airfield, where the fighter boys used to rest during the war, that was positively FULL of old drawings, of allsorts, whether these have been binned since, etc, i have no idea, might be worth me giving them a buzz, and see if its possible they “May” have something ??
Bristol brigand Cockpit ?
does anyone have a incling or idea where i could plans for a Bristol Brigand cockpit/instrument panel ??.. or any leads or advice, ,this would be just to make up a brigand panel, etc … Impossible i know, but any leads would be appreciated,
Hi Wyvern Fan,
yes its me.. selling it, reluctantly, ive just had a nose on the forum, still got a avid interest, but keep missing me chances, always ******** up one way or another, but not for want of trying, so i thought it best to hang up me flight suit for a short while, my ex mrs leaving me, and dropping me in it financially put pay to any dreams i had of hunter restoration… still cant get much worse, can only get better, i thought it about time someone bought it, who could use it in its rightful place….. on a hunter 🙂
incidentally, I am more than willing to swap the canopy for a old basket case lambretta if anyone got one spare rotting in the shed, i doubt it, but allways worth asking as i enjoy restoring these, and there a bit more easy to store than a plane.sorry for posing the question(bit of a cheek), but dont ask, dont get 😀
How odd though. I found someone prepared to pay a cash amount higher than your (pre-auction) asking price and yet you never followed up on it seemingly preferring to let feeBay take a slice of whatever it makes.
ah well, i guess you can only lead a horse to water no matter how much he complains he’s thirsty ?!
.
XM692…
I didnt hear anything back old boy … from these interested parties
Hunter canopy anyone? The seller sounds familiar as well.. 😉

My friend is restoring some panels and cockpits but as far as I know he’s not planning to make Su-7 – maybe it’s not easy to get spare parts or simply there aren’t any. But I will ask him or will give you his mail. His current projects: http://vhtm.valka.cz/projekty.htm. Su-7 is a pretty unique piece (many of them were scrapped after their service life expired, also documentation was destroyed).Maybe you can contact also museum in Praha – Kbely.
http://www.vhu.cz/en/stranka/vhu-praha/kontakty/They have at least two Su-7s hidden in deposit, decomposing on rain and snow …

wessex project
Hi Merkle,
Can I ask, do you still intend to go ahead with the Wessex panel/cockpit section?
Regards
Nigel
Hi Nigel,
sorry for such a long delay, but ive not been on here much in the past few months, (my wife ran off with another man, and left me a kids to fend for ourselves 🙁 ) so its been a bit tough,
to be honest with all thats gone on ive not really given it a thought,
I have a cockpit project soon to deal with , and had exhausted myself trying to sort out finding a wessex, lots around, but none for the taking, or buying, etc
so I am unsure wether it will be done, i still have the panel , but after hundreds of emails, and calls, etc, over a year period, i have drawn blank with the MOD, museums, scrap yards, bases, various places for wessex stuff,
still want one, but , well, they just seem not for the taking, unless you can tell me different ??
I could be wrong ??. would be nice to know otherwise:D:)
Here is a MiG 15 panel I am putting back together. It is from a Polish aircraft but at some point in it’s life it had a bunch of Russian instruments put in so I am taking it back to original. Eventually I will build a cabinet for it and have all of the lights operational as well as the gunsight.
Hi Gary..
you still got those Russian instruments ??,I got a project that might need them soon 🙂 .. i hope you dont mind asking, but dont ask ,dont get etc
cheers
Chris c
Thanks Dave ,
thats the stuff I am trying to find, rumours are that the egyptian stuff was there for quite some time, I would love to know the history of these aircraft, and same goes for the Mig 19 at martin bakers, another gutted cockpit, in very bad shape,
but any pics or history about these 3 aircraft the Egyptian Su-7 Mig21 , Mig 19(mig 19 might be ex PAF ) . would be much appreciated, is there anyone who uses this site who ever seen them or worked on them in years past ??
and were these aircraft ever complete aircraft in this country, or were they allready scrapped of sorts before they got here in the uk??
Some photos from Czech AF.
http://www.mzak.cz/pilot/Articles are currently undergoing translation to English, finishing date unknown.
Hi , just seen your post, Bieng you live in Czech Republic, and obviously a avid aviation fan, would you know if there are still spares for the Su-7 lying around ,that could be bought for a cockpit restoration ???,
I only ask as i believe the Czech airforce was the last european airfroce to use the Su-7 .. and I know i wont find much in the Uk, so I hope you didnt mind me posing the question ??
did someone say ‘i want more afghan fitters’? 😀
some more afghan plane porn for ya, thsi ones cool because its a bit of an oddity in the camo department
Regards
must say… they look gorgeous, I wonder how many others of this type are simply rotting away on forgotten airfields, and britain doesnt have not one complete one ,would be a nice add to any museums collection a complete one of them, still we can all dream cant we lol.
Merkle,
Hope for your sake mate the deal is done, as you have given plenty of information now for someone else who wants said pit to come in and snatch it from you…..
Jon
Jon, it wont happen, I have been in contact for quite some time, and have been told , quite strongly, the cockpit’s got my name on it, and it aint going anywhere, apart from “my way” , I value trust, in people and trust there word.
the group/man involved are very gentlemanly, so I have no qaulms about trusting them . problem i have is to find all the parts, and pics etc , as i thought i would get the ball rolling ,as i know just how hard it will be to do, the sooner i get on with it , the better . 🙂
Thanks Flyst for looking 🙂
I am perticuarily looking for soviet planes on the dump, as i am sure i will be owning one in the very near future, just a wrecked cockpit, but to find pics of it on the fire dump or even better as a complete aircraft woud be such a bonus, as its history is so … well….. how can i put this, with lots of Voids … very little information .of its service history . , apart from it is ex egyptian, and this is stated in the “wrecks a Relics ” book anyway 🙂
