    Duly Signed Bob !!,

It upsets me to think our Govt can hand out to every tom, dick and harry, and even Pay benefit to eastern Europeans for there children ,Who do not live here ,but in there native land !!,

Yet the Gurkha’s Who have given so much, are treated so terrible, and from what I remember do not get even the same pension rights that the British Army have ??.

It just shows This Govt’s and the civil Service’s utter Contempt for ex service personel,

its a funny old country the UK, a man can earn 18 Million pounds a year by swearing profanities on the radio, Payed by the Tax payer, !!
And yet the men and woman who have given so much to the country, have to beg for a small pittance to survive,

its not Govt, its ruddy criminals who run this country !!

    Thanks again ,

Yep I looked under 738 Sqn, and found a few pics of GA.11’s with the FAA,
I believe the pics were taken at Brawdy ,

    http://www.fradu-hunters.co.uk/hunter7xx/738nas.html

I never realised they were converted to GA.11 from such a early date, especailly as early as 1962 !.

Thanks for sharing the info with us mark,:)

    Thankyou Mark,

Youve cleared that little puzzle up for me,looks like they might have had the
Gunsight for about a year if that, and from what I have read, it is only the RN that had the GA.11, all converted from F.4 types.

so it seems prettymuch as soon as they were put into service with the FAA, they had the gunsights Junked ,

    Thanks again,
    Chris C

    Ps
Nice website on your Hunter !!,

    Thanks Fella’s
    Really Helpful 😀
I wonder when they decided to take the GGS Gunsight out of the GA.11 ??

    as I am interested in the 1969- 70 -71 period (years) .

I know th GA.11 was used from 1975 -80 In the “Blue Herons” aerobatic team, obviously by then “Not” in use as Ground Gunnery training.

But Perhaps in the “Very early Years with the FAA, would they have possibly been in Use for GA training ??,with the Gunsight in situ ??.

I will be thinking of my family and friends who serve and have served during many of our conflicts,

God rest in Peace the dead, and protect the living,

Prey for those who are in harms way, and give the families hope and courage for those whos loved ones are in service doing a difficult job,far from home.

and for those injured let us all help them where we can,

I especailly will be thinking of my great Uncle Private W.H.Butland (Glos Reg)
    KIA 24th June 1916(Somme) Poiziere,

and my Uncle R.J.Tucker ,Leading Seaman ,HMS Prince of Wales , (Prisoner of War ) Sumatra who died August 1945 of Bury Bury , malnutrition ,

and my friends and family who Have or are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan,
(No Names as they are Current Service Personel.)

and of course the many who suffer daily even many years later due to physical /Mental disabilities /illneses caused by war past and present

as I think All of this forum will, in there own individual way

Well, It was along time ago,

From Memory, I Know I left school in 1987, I had joined the SWARG in 1985,
Mr Goerge morley Used to pick myself and Kevin Butler up to take us to events, he was a great man ,sadly no longer with us .

I had only heard abut the Spit when I joined, being told of “Previous” digs,
so the SAS recovery MUST have been Before 86 , More like 83/84, I remember being told a engine was found , and had old oil Barrels tied down to it, But it floated off, only to be found a year later down stream of the river severn.

I am not trying to cause trouble, Its just something Ive allways known and wanted to get it out in the open .

I have known a couple of the Severnside Aviation Society members for many years, and it seems they did’nt get a say in any of this ??, they were the first to find it ,so I have been told in the very early 1980s, and as such the SAS did investigate the site, Way before the PMR 1986 act was in place, from what i was told a member of the SAS sold up the collection when the group folded up, Much to the upset of the many members who had found many of those Items , and never got a say in the matter.
Personally I think it stinks, But that was many moons ago, and I expect water under the bridge now,

I was never a member of the SAS, but knew a couple of members very well, who were one of the main driving forces behind the group, I was a very young member of the SWARG, group, who used to visit places with SAS.

this issue is a very bitter pill to swallow, and I felt it so unfair on the SAS lads,

I dont doubt now I have caused a stir, Not intensional , But I feel compelled to say something about this and in Recognition of the great work compiled by the SAS and its members , as I know it did upset quite a few people, at the time, and I believe still does so .

Now I have said my piece, I expect to be “Swung from the Yard arm” , But it had to be said,

And so work has begun 🙁

    Jon

its a very sad sight to see, I know we cant save em all, but I wonder how many office blocks and housing estates will be built on this one ,as with the others??

makes you wonder how many Actual Operational Air bases we have left, must be a 10th of the amount in ww2, or even less,

everything seems to be dwindling away, apart from the ever growing housing estates, and offices, ,Where’s the Industry gone ??, railways, air bases, Ports, ship yards, Farms etc etc, all Just a fraction of what they used to be,

who ever said “Progress ” is good 🙁

    To further clarify

For exports, all aircraft will have to have a valid export license. In my professional capacity I have acted as an agent for individuals in the past.

I have had more difficulty with modern aircraft (a Harrier) than old aircraft, as modern aircraft tend to have systems installed that could be classed as classified. Get your paperwork in early!

There are various schemes for bringing classic aircraft into the country that help when it comes to paying the taxman. Aircraft that are built in this country and fall into the category of collectors items can be brought in with reduced VAT and no duty. Customs law is however a veritable minefield – make sure you use the right scheme!:Bruce

I agree Bruce, I am no expert ,But I imagine all the customs laws have become tighter since 9/11 on ANY Imports into the UK.
My friend was looking 10 years ago at the very least, and after seeing the Tallichet collection ,pretty much gave up, on account of cost etc,

This was one of my worries when I was going for the Polish Mig 21 cockpit ,
Just how to get it into the country ??.

it must be very hard for a private person as opposed to a museum, group ,or comapny ,to bring a aircraft in from overseas.
