Even better: not only is it possible to read poorly written texts, it is also very helpful in making a judgement on the writer’s intelligence and education 😀
Oh, and it’s not just 55 people who can read that drivel. Maybe 55 were stupid enough to think it’s worth forwarding. Anyone who has even rather basic reading abilities, can read mingled words like that.
thankyou Arthur,
It was only a bit of fun, there is No Need to get personal, Just because my English isnt up to your scratch , doesnt mean I am a total Brainless Moron, If i was for one ,i would NOT take a great interest in the forum, or other enginneering subjects,I would be sat at home every night watching Football, and Big Bruvver and then swilling 20 pints, and having a fight, I feel Quite insulted at your remarks, on what is only a but of fun, its allways times like these that Old Fossils come out of the woodwork 😡
, i know a Man at work who has Many degrees in Mathematics, and Science, and yet he is ten times worse than me at spelling, I only wish we all were all as Literate as you are. 😉

Very good, there’s a definate winner in the beauty stakes there.
Westland Wessex is another one.
Ahh well see, its like the stuka, its SOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo UGGGGllllyyyyy, that its positively Unique, and beautiful in its own right,
the whirligig and Wessex are of this Creed,
its like Woman and Collecting China Pigs, a Pig is a revolting animal, But some Woman Love them, I guess its what ever floats your boat :diablo:
It won’t, items only remain in eBays database for a max’ 120 days.
.
i guessed as much, so ive emailed the seller,
I dont know any more about it other than what was written in the thread,
Did this EVER sell ????,
any More news on this airframe, I tried to use the old link , But nowt comes up, Picture wise, I dont even know her serial No
I’m not sure any post war government has done much for any British Industry. Privatisation of utilities and energy companies in the 80’s preceeded by a massacre of our steel and coal industries don’t show the Tories in a good light. Politicians are all the same….
sorry its way off thread, But WL747, I am totally miffed as to who to vote for next as all of em are a waste of space, and there isnt any one left ,
and all britain is left with is service industry, and finance, and that too is going down the pan, 😡
what was built over the early part of our century has been sytematically destroyed, I actually think they done a better job of ballsing up britain than any Lutwaffe could even dream of doing 🙁
H.M.S Barham was sunk by a torpedo from Submarine U331. The death of this ship was filmed and it is a very horrific sight when the ship rolls over and a massive explosion takes place.
G.
ahh that was it, but i knew one of our big ships got hit just off greece/med
by stukas
I’m no Admiral either but I’d think twice about bringing my navy so close to all of those JU-87’s…….
didn’t Hitler still think that if he showed “mercy” to the troops he could negotiate a peace with England?
Hmmmm, Wasnt it HMS Barham, (I could be wrong,) Exploded from a dive Bomb attack from Ju87s of the coast of Greece ??, with the loss of Most of her crew,??
we could have had a Pearl Harbour, Before Pearl Harbour actually happened,
At Dunkirk instead 🙁
Didn’t England have air superiority over the beaches?
If not, I’m sure they could have thrown a Hurricane shield over the fleet.
I could be wrong ??, But even though Gallant it was !!, wasnt the RAF on the run as well as the BEF, No More aircraft for france ,Get the aircraft back home for the coming Battle of Britain ??, and also I recal the french airforce was a Large one, and quite well equipped, but so many were destroyed on the ground,
I bought the Battle of france book from “after the Battle” and the Allied losses in there are Massive amount,
German Losses too were High, But seems alot of the allied airforces were decimated “On the ground”
Thank God For Radar, and the Home Chain system, I see the french never had it, and look how they were decimated on mass on the ground.
infact its one of my many hobbys to collect photos of abandoned,Downed birds from the Battle of france, and eastern front ,there is so many original pics available and they hold a interesting window into the past,
and even though our pilots fought bravely against the odds at dunkirk, it cant have been that effective as the germans were forever bombing the beaches ?
I don’t think the Alvis Leonides engines owed anything to Mr. Pratt, Mr. Whitney or Mr. Wright. It’s true genesis was the Bristol Jupiter via Gnome-Rhone and test-flew before WW2.
Roger Smith.
ahh, well it was only what was told in the past, i never did think the brits copied american engines, infact allways thought it more the opposite:diablo:
Merkle,
I heard a rumour not long back that the Whirlwind at Long Marston was up for sale by the owner. I know not who the owner is, or if it has an engine in it!
Steve
She look a nice old bird !!,
Ive wanted a whole “Aircraft” whatever it be for years, and missed quite a few chances, mainly for the money, and when i did have the money, it was storage, bloody premium around here Then its the transportation of something that size, 40ft lorry +diesel, got to be a minimum, of nearly a grand ,Hence why I am stuck with looking for a Cab off of one, as its the only thing that would fit in my mums large garage,
which I have got the use off ,
Still Now I got the Panel, I can gather up the bits as fast as possible, and one day a Wessex might come along, I have took Peters advice, try a get all the goodies first, whilst looking, then when the cab comes along, the fun part of fitting begins !!:);)
That’s either a Wessex HC2, HU5 or Mk60 panel: the double row of engine instruments to the left of the CWP are peculiar to the twin engine Wessex (Queen of the Skies :p ).
What is the earliest built of the types you mention, as i would want to put the earliest clocks in Possible, 1960s if possible 😀
thanks again
I am learning all the time !!
Elfan is a good bloke, and has done a sterling job for the museum. He is a real ‘egg-whisk’ enthusiast (and pilot) but you need to remember that he is a NSDC councellor and has had a lot of aggro about the museum and the fact that he operates experience flights from the old Weston airfield. The NIMBY’s in the new housing estates don’t like the ‘noise and invasion of privacy’.
How many museums do you know that have such regular open cockpit days where people get the chance to clamber all over the exhibits (supervised of course)?
Considering you live in Portishead and have a keen interest in aviation (and now moved your loyalty to helecopters :p ), perhaps you should think about volunteering and getting some experience. There are very many people on the museum volunteer staff that would be able to help and answer all your doubts/concerns/questions about your own project(s) when you get them, and would probably be able to help you out with parts, manuals and stuff.
Yes XF940, You are Quite right !!, I shouldnt take “Heresay” as Gospel,
I think I will go on down and introduce myself and hopefully be able to lend a helping hand now and again, Mrs and Job permitting , I could be of some use as I am a NDT enginneer, and it would be good to meet new friends if possible:D
A couple of shots of a Wessex panel at Predannack.
Ahh Nice one Vulture !!,
they got quite a few down there , and some of em look well battered,
do you think any of them may be aquired for saving, (the cab that is) as i seem to recall, there are about 3 on there sides, not even really good enough to preserve as a whole aircraft as they are so mangled etc
Would love to go down there one day and have a look, that is if the CO doesnt mind ,
you got any more pics of the predannack wessex’s ????:)
Looks like a Wessex panel…
…but if your in Portishead, why not visit the International Helicopter Museum just a few minutes down the road ?
.
Mmm, I want to go down, But everytime ive been ive found Mr App Rees not very friendly, and met others that volounteered there ,and loved the Museum, But didnt think much of its owner in the least, 🙁 and had left ,
for reasons i dont know,
