There was some real beauties in the Imperial german airforce, the Halberstadt for one was a real sexy looking plane, especaily with that “Lozenge” cammo they used to have, Personally I would love to see a Gotha Heavy Bomber fly over London again ,;) perhaps right over the houses of parlaiment:diablo:

But being such a monster in size I doubt very much one of those would ever be built, I may as well ask for the zeppelin airship, as same goes for that “it just AINT happening 🙂

I’ve got a complete column/yoke in my collection. May be tempted to part with it, depending on what you have.

Still need a few Hunter bits (skin panels), or what have you that’s interesting Instrument Panel wise?

Didn’t Bruce offer you a column though?

silly question, but you wouldnt fancy a trade 847 WH887 for the Hunter, 😀
I know its a cheek, but no harm in asking LOL,
I allready Know what the answer will be LOL,
    BIG BAD NOOOoooooooo ,LOL:diablo::D

ahh, he may have done, to be honest i cant remember, I was going to get one when i went to visit WK124 at Marston, But i never had the equiptment to remove it, and it was in a bad way the magnesium, was starting to crumble, due to the years of fire practice, sadly lots there but quite impossible to move without cutting equipment , shame really as 2 ejector seats are there too, but rotten in the seat pans , I also have 2 oxy bottles from her if these are of use to anyone, 1 large 1 small, as for my panels , they are just that airframe panels ,Not instrument ones, the lightning one has a serial number on it, I think it is one that came from a scrapper in the 90s
I know i could probably get all the bits, but i cant afford to buy loads, that sthe problem, wish i could , but i will have to drip feed the parts so to speak, same as everybody else i suppose, but atleast i can find those all important Sources for when i do have a bit of spare cash , and I am working on that one!:);)

also, I have for swap all from XE995 (t11 vampire ex torbay museum) flap/throttle
levers/box links etc, panel door , oxy parts, etc

    Crewkerne canberra

I only spoke to a eye witness the other day about this ,he was 15 at the time, and said he saw the pilot still sat in his seat with the shute draped ver him,he went up that evening, and said that the area where the pilot landed in his seat had a 1 foot depresion where he had landed with force, it was on a hill opposite the petrol station, I have been tempted to go there and photgraph the site, But have been told it has been built on, it was just outside crewkerne, on the dorchester road, opposite the petrol station
really sad about the pilot though, its storys like this one that kind of bring it home to you,:(

Many do have a disabled area set aside, and are close to the disabled car parking. They are often on hard standings, too. I’d be surprised if that wasn’t true at Duxford.

Ah My apologies then, I never went so I really dont know, Just by the looks ofthe photos on this thread, they never had a area set by, its hard enough for able bodied people to see sometimes, the shows seem like a Paparazi gathering,LOL:D ,along the flight line, I had the same trouble at Kemble, I couldnt get near the flight line, so I had to do with what i managed to get, Still got some nice pics though !:D:)

    wheel chair

I think its a rotten shame that people with wheel chairs through no fault of there own, cannot get as good a view as anyone else,
you would have thought in this day and age, th organisers could have set by a good viewing area for wheelchair users, then you wouldnt get the man with his step ladders and 5 foot lens in all your shots,
some people have No consideration, 🙁
I hope it is better for you next year :);)

back in the early 80s i found a Vokes lttle brass/copper data plate when i was invited as a 15 year old on a Vampire Dig, VF300 ,

allways wondered what it was from, now i know, some sort of air filter 🙂

    mmmm, 200mil eh :D,

    well i would buy/rent 2 large hanger’s on a old airfield that had a long runway 🙂
with easy motorway access in the south west or central UK,

sub let the spare room at reduced rates to other warbird collectors,so as to bring them in, have all ameineties fitted, etc,

start a trust fund to help those important projects that have not been able to move at speed etc, to help make the non existant fly, ie Hampden/whitley.:)

I would have either a B29 or (if i could ever find one) a B36 peacemaker with its own fan club ,etc like sally B,
    and a Canberra and or a B47 Stratojet ,:D:cool:

and start up a living/Flying early Cold war flight, with other interested parties, visiting the airshow circuit etc,

and donate a smallish building on peanut rent to a museum of aviation archaeology , or whatever prospective parties could come up with,

I would just be dealing with the early cold war heavies with a Motley crew,
the rest would run itself under a sort of umbrella organisation,

that way it might eventually be able to run itself,I know its a dream, but hey its not a bad Idea, :diablo:

oh and Stavertons Canberra Would be restored to fly ,You’d like that wouldnt you TimboTT18 :D;).

in fact would have anyone with a interest in early cold war stuff, 1946 to 1970s

Ah well we can all dream

Yes I am sure the FAA have the details, but they have so many, and i dont think in recent years they have looked at them, a friend of mine looked at there cards, and said Lots of them were dumped years ago, and they hold very little in that respect (according to him) ,
and if they did have Files and files of cards, these would mostly be of incidents i imagine,

It would not harm to give em a poke, (even if its been done before) and ask if this one has been overlooked, even if at worst there is nothing there?

it’s just a suggestion, I will email them later, Just the facts , and if i am allowed ,The Photo, or even better just send them a link to this thread, and let them make up there own minds:)

Merkle , you are getting carried away again, you can’t just turn up on any old airfield dump and burning ground and dig. Rare prototypes and development aircraft have been buried and burned up and down the land.

The reason I mentioned that the engine may have been removed, is that I have read that a couple of Eagles are preserved, they must have been removed from something. May have even been of limited use at the engineering school at Manadon.

Yes you are correct Pagen, 😮

I did get a little Over exited :D, its just i marked this one out in the book quite a while ago, and to see a photo of it ,pretty much around the same time it was buried, got me all exited 🙂

Perhaps its worth forwarding this info to the FAA Museum, then they can go through the channels of recovery if poss, because if it is there, then this is something that needs to be done under the “Umbrella” of a national Museum,
I imagine if anyone else done it it would be a too costly exercise, and corners would be cut, But if the FAA museum, are un-aware of it then perhaps it might be worth just forwarding that info to them, and then perhaps they “may” investigate it further ??, as to if anything is left of any use, as I said before, Who Knows ??
