Hmmm. A day trip to Cairo on the IL62. Was that from Constanta or did you have to take a domestic to Bucharest on an AN24 full of pics and chickens ?
How long were you in Cairo and did you do anything there ?
I’ve only had one IL62 flight and that was also Tarom, from BUC to LHR.
On the way out it was IL18 (instead of the Tu154 scheduled). I was in the cockpit as we crossed the channel. 4 cockpit crew including a “female” (I think) radio operator.
I see your photos are on flickr. So, open your photo and click on “Share”. Select Grab the HTML/BBCcode. There will be a pulldown list with sizes. Pick the size you want then you can copy the stuff in “copy and paste the code below” area. Paste that into your message.
You really only need the line that starts so just delete everything else around it if you want. Not sure if there is also a way of quickly just grabbing the IMG line without the URL stuff too. Should be but is there ?
Try it out and look at the result using the Preview Post button when you are composing the message.
Busy wee place during the holiday season. Was the flight to Glasgow ?
I see a bice little THY F28 in your shots too. Spiffing.
Monarchs and Court Lines at LHR. Hmmm… diversions ?
I use NeatImage when I scan slides or negs. Don’t worry too much about stuff like grass being washed out and unnatural as you can adjust various settings and amounts of noise reduction until things look their best.
You could try emailing Cargolux
This latest FlyDubai. A6-FDY, was delivered on 13th and left Seattle at 02:40 on 18th. Normally they depart earlier and arrive GLA very early (arriving about 06-07:00) but in this case it was good. So that’s, say, 4 or 5 days from being handed over until doing the delivery flight.
http://boeing-test-flights.blogspot.com/ seems to be a good site to keep up to date with Boeing happenings like test flights, hand overs and stuff. It’s a good start.
Use that along with actual delivery flight dates to get an idea of average time between events. If you struggle trying to find delivery flight dates then have a look for FDBs at GLA on airliners.net or somewhere.
Normally there is a mention that one has been delivered over at Boeing and so it is likely to come through pretty soon after. We’ll generally know that one is expected maybe the day before but it depends on when they decide to set off from Seattle. Normally they are in too early like about 6 or 7 in the morning but this was a good one. The pics look a bit too bright on my screen at work… seemed fine in the house. Bloody LCD monitors. Move up or down in yer seat and it gets brighter and darker. Hmmm.
That’s 25 delivered now. 52 ordered in total and I believe the first couple are already sold by FlyDubai to India or somewhere. ha.
Old timer still flying at the end of the 80s, Syrianair caravelle at Athens doing the Aleppo flight.

A sad sight to see all the Malevs parked up out of service at SNN. One of the better colour schemes and one of the last remaining of the dark nose brigade. Was the BA 747 a diversion ?
What is happening to the routes that were operated out of BUD by Malev ?
Some tridents at Heathrow on a November evening in 1975. I scanned this a couple of days ago… then went to scan something else, at which point the scanner started misbehaving and dragging. It then drastically failed in movement of the mechanism so I HOPE it can be sorted so I can get some more old slides & negs scanned. fingers —> X

HA-LOM at Malpensa in 2007 while on lease to Livingston. Taken with a kodak digi heap AND hosted via Photobucket so excuse the quality. Can anyone suggest a better (and free) photo hosting site ?
Unfortunately my scanner went tech a couple of days ago or I could have provided more MA shots including Yak 40 from the 90s. I am hoping the scanner is not permanently kapoot but we’ll have to see.

That C46 is a gem! Back then, STN played host to many unusual visitors, in particular tha DC8s belonging to the US carriers such as, Saturn, ONA, AFA, TIA, and Airlift. An elderly friend of mine, used to clean the cabins on the turnarounds of those 8s. She told me that there were sometimes ‘soldiers’ on board, and sometimes ‘ordinary’ folk. During the mid 80s, we used to handle the DC8s of the US carrier Capitol.
Haha. Soldiers and ORDINARY folk. All these airlines were used on trooping flights by Military Airlift Command. We used to get plenty of MAC charters at Prestwick. There was a MAC desk there and you would see what was due in the next few days written with these plastic letters you arranged in slots.
Ah. I know the place you mean … well the bank by the blue car park. Didn’t know you could get shots on the airport side though without big ladders.
