The only thing I remember him telling me about this raid was they got lost on the way back & landed at another unit.
Dad was still busy getting radio bearings for the nav “Benny” when the pilot Ted Catley landed, thus leaving the trailing out which got tangled up in the perimeter fence & bust off.

When they returned to Morten (Edgehill) they went straight back out on night flying & bombing training, which didn’t help my Dads now legendary book keeping, he forgot to log the Essen trip until a few days later, so it’s out of date sequence with the rest of the page, he did however record at least part of the a/c serial “1142 ” which I believe was Z1142 which on the 15th of April 43 hit the windsock at Enstone- Z1142

By an amazing coincidence my Father was on the same raid, in fact this was his one & only bombing raid over Germany before being posted out to North Africa.
At the time he was flying with 21 OTU at Moreton In The Marsh.

sometimes this is a battlefield i’m probably going to be called sexist but here goes !!

women have used courts and scheeming ways for years

they use kids as bargaining pawns in the game when splitting up

i watch from the sidelines ( never having been stupid enough to commit )

they threaten blokes with not seeing kids etc etc , a lot will dress like tramps and have all manners of blokes arround

then when a bloke snaps as a lot do the woman appears in court in a tweed twin set and pearls saying ” look it couldn’t possibly be me !”

as said there may be a lot more behind the scenes

if the bloke had behaved the same as the woman the woman could walk free claiming mental cruelty !!

Awesome post Tornado64, pretty much how it is. http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/images/icons/icon14.gif

Gets The Strangelove stamp of approval™ 😎

As to the death penalty, that also gets TSSoA™

At the risk of seeming to be a pendant, it was a pulse jet engine, not a rocket.

As far as Ford goes, did they make the power plant for the yank V1 rip off, the “loon” ?

I suppose a blue badge would give the game away on that one:D

    edit- found this

The airframe for the JB-2 was built by the Republic Aviation Corporation and the engine by the Ford Motor

Well they certainly kept that very quiet

World-wide plot to block Argentine Exocets

Nott reveals that France and President Mitterand “were in many ways (Britain’s) greatest allies”. The most formidable weapon in Argentina’s arsenal was the French built Super Etendard strike aircraft and Exocet missile which sank some British ships. Nott writes: “As soon as the conflict began Hernou (French Defence Minister) got in touch with me to make available a Super-Etendard and Mirage aircraft so our Harrier pilots could train against them before setting off to the South Atlantic. The French supplied detailed technical information on the Exocet, showing us how to tamper with the missiles.

Britain launched a clandestine international plot to block supplies to Argentina. “A remarkable world-wide operation then ensured to prevent further Exocets being bought by Argentina. I authorised our agents to pose as bona fide purchasers of equipment on the international market, ensuring that we outbid the Argentineans. Other agents identified Exocet missiles in various markets and covertly rendered them inoperable, based on information from the French. It was a remarkably successful operation. In spite of strenuous efforts by several countries, particularly the Israelis and South Africans, to help Argentina, we succeeded in intercepting and preventing the supply of further equipment to the Argentines.”
