David a question you maybe able to answer …………. i guess the Hellcat had been inhibited which i think means pouring oil in the engine once the engine has been cleaned and started does it mean that an engine has to be run weekly for so many hours/days ?
any idea where its heading
thanks i have replied via email and sent Yak 50 a pm
regards
o well must have been messtaken ! think its all gone to my head, not that there is much left as i have just been given 2 more months of crook so that makes 6 now :apologetic:
funny i thought that this had reached 90 pages yesterday have some been deleted that i missed or have i been smoking banana’s ??
of course Charlie its good to have discussions on forums and we all have differing view points what the men of the 8th and others gave sacrifices for. Im going to London over the weekend and will be wearing my uncles medals with pride on the right side at the cenotaph.
As you have said Charlie “The American Air Museum in Britain stands as a memorial to the 30,000 American airmen who gave their lives flying from UK bases in defence of liberty during the Second World War, and also honours those who fought in Korea, Vietnam, Libya, Iraq and other conflicts and battles of the 20th and 21st centuries”. just think it needs to be a bit more colourful. Imagen on non air show days when you walk past all those glass panels with no proper explanation as to what they are ? and you have heard all about colourful pin-ups on the front of American aircraft and are faced with 2 long blank grey walkways down to the aircraft. How colourful that would look with some examples along the walls or as i hinted tail markings of various groups ? Take a look at the video of the Mighty Eighth posted and you get an idea what i was on about. Dont get me wrong im still in reverance when i go just think it needs colouring up.
Thank you David guess restoration to flying cond is a no no !! are both going back to London eventually please
Chris, your correct it needs this, also it needed secrets, you can see it all from the front, outside the glass so when you walk in you have no surprises, this is needed with museums, Hendons BoB hall gets it a bit right.
Not quite true TA as there are a couple of alcoves at the back with uniforms and memorabilia in and a list of the fallen which is quite sobering when you see people with the same surname as yours
David is there parts of two Zero’s at Duxford or where the bits kept in separate places and joined together ?
well TA how about covering some of the bland concrete with images of some of the flyers or even tail marking of the individual units of the 8th and modern counterparts as an example the 100th still exists today based in the UK so telling how it was developed from WW2 to today would be good, just think it needs to be a bit more colourful, with perhaps modern LED lighting and a reference to the glass panels along the avenue to the main entrance would be good (The Mighty 8th avenue of remembrance !) i put some visitors right before Legends who thought it was a nice wind break. Well that just my opinion anyway and reflects nothing on any one who works/volunteers there its still a great place just needs to be modernised all at a cost i know.
with the refurbishments of the AAM Hanger due in a few years i wonder if it could be made to look similar, although i like visiting it does look a bit bland and concrete when comparison to the video
Thanks Charlie think i could jolly well be looking into this once im back at work ……..

And hugely cheaper than a Gold Pass….with discounts in the IWM catering outlets and shops. Excellent value for money.
Does that mean 20% of airshow tickets or just normal entrance on non airshow days please
‘We will Remember them’ ……………………………… Hope its acceptable as its from a friends account who is not a member here, i do have his permission to post this taken at the Spring Show
