Thanks, Rob. Yes, you would have enjoyed it. Maybe next year! 🙂
Got our first look at the Anson too –

Went to Montrose on Saturday for the Open Weekend and Fly-In. A few vintage types turned up again though the strong, gusting crosswind probably deterred a few. A Jungmann did a flypast but carried on to land at Perth. We were across at the museum at the time so only got a glimpse as he flew off! Among the older aircraft which did land were an Se5a replica, Piper Cub, Cessna Bird Dog, Stinson Station Wagon, Piel Emeraude and a couple of Jodels. I’ll include the beautifully-kept Comanche too – it being 52 years old!

Just been treated to a flypast by a Spitfire up here in Perthshire! A rare treat here nowadays 🙂
Anyone know which one? PV202 still up North?
A replica SPAD XIII is currently being built. It was great to see it at this stage when you could see the construction and the workmanship which is going into creating it –

Thanks for the links, JohnTerrell. The dogfight is great and shows some lovely views of the airfield. We actually had a short chat to Caroline during our visit 🙂 She flew the Jenny really well too.
J Boyle – what can I say – America, so much to see but so little time! It takes a lot of decision-making what to visit and what to leave out! Eaglesmere looks fantastic too!
I do enjoy visiting museums like this one and the W.A.A.A.M one at Hood River, Oregon which we visited last year. Lots of beautiful old aeroplanes with real character from my favourite era in aviation.
There are a couple of head-on shots and another partial view of the Argentinian example on the Aero Club’s Facebook photos page – https://www.facebook.com/pg/Aeroclubcolonba/photos/?ref=page_internal It could certainly do with some tlc 🙁
We did have a good look around the area though we weren’t absolutely sure of the exact location of the Curtiss factory. What does still exist is the older Mercury Aircraft plant whose construction began during WW2. The company is now in newer premises on the outskirts of town. During the war they produced, among other things, P-40 tail assemblies, fuel tanks and C-46 parts such as rudder pedals and undercarriage legs. The 10000th P-40 tail assembly is displayed in the Curtiss Museum-

Thanks, ZRX61. It’s nice to see that hangar being saved. It’s a lovely old building.

Been there 22 years ago. Still have the T-shirt!
Nice! Didn’t get a T-shirt but did pick up another addition to the growing fridge magnet collection 🙂

Yes, the Commando is still there. It was in the middle of a repaint when we visited –

Another couple of interesting aircraft were Mercury Aircraft designs – the T-2 Chic and S-1 Racer –

There’s quite an assortment of engines including this Allison 3420 from a Fisher XP-75 Eagle –

Looking forward to this event. Quite a few vintage aircraft turned up last year alongside a good number of modern types. Iirc it wasn’t a brilliant day weather-wise being blustery and with a threatening overcast. Hopefully a better day this year. This is a museum which is well worth supporting so it would be great to see a good turnout next weekend.
What a great attitude so soon after the accident! I wish him all the best with his future plans 🙂
Very nice – thanks for posting! Love the Fw 58 and it’s always nice to see British types in foreign museums.
Glad your perseverance has paid off, FP 🙂
Another tragedy. How very sad to hear this news.
