Beeeeeerrrr!!!!!Well it is cheaper than fuel per litre here at the moment.

Sheetwise it has taken only 5 sheets of 2024-0 to get all our frames cut plus a lot of the smaller parts can be nested in the scrap areas.Time taken to cut out is about an hour on the waterjet cutter.Another replica is here…

Prop hubs…
Definately a big point in regards to cost..Finding a hub is hard but then to xray it and get it certified to fly is the biggest challenge.
Ummm like this??

Stuff you need is a dream and the conviction to keep on going.
Oleos for the correct Mark you are doing,pintles,locking mechanism,tailwheel shock and strut,wheels..mains and tailwheel,tyres,bellcranks for F11 and tail,undercart hyd block,hydraulic rams,pneumatic rams,air bottles,control column uni joint,merlin,engine mount castings,instruments,canopy,armoured windscreen,mirror,seat,ummm anyone else????:dev2:
Cheers Mark.Yes even though we have a good haul of original Spit parts the providence trail is way to fragile to even consider an ID..But we are hoping to get as close as we can to a Restored one.Oh yes to all the eagle eyed guys out there we need a datum measurement for Frame 18..This is just a trial fitting to eye off along the frames to double check our 3D model.
And we can,t forget where it started….

Sad and tragic
That a rare aircraft has to go but if it is for the good of keeping one in the air and providing spares for the rest then I think it is a worthy sacrifice..Plus with all the thousands of bits not used for spares I would think a selling off for souveneers to collectors or enthusiusts would be a done thing..
Bills spitfire has not long been in the air from it,s Winter Maintenence.Ouch…Glad both pilots are Ok and the aircraft aren,t too badly damaged…Machines can be fixed in time..
Wow only 7 hours…Just kidding. For us up here in the Banaana Republic it,s a bit further. We will be there in Spirit.Drive/fly safe guys…Have fun, well not too much though…
Sounds crazy but ‘Thank god’ that we are building a Spit.
Now thats something you don,t see every day.
Opinion
