Thank you and a virtual beer to you mate. You have saved one volunteer from going insane in his attempts at pulling one apart..Cheers.
Anyone??Gees you don,t want me to start begging do you??Even a trail of breadcrumbs would suffice.
One of our volunteers who is quite remarkably an ex spitfire and test pilot still remembers his first posting to Sicily where an abandoned 190 was put through its paces by his C.O. and Flight leader.Think he was in 602 Squadron at the time.Did his training in Rhodesia and finished the war in another Squadron in Burma before returning to test fly here in S/E Queensland.Anyone know of many 190,s abandoned in the Med??
Wasn,t the one in June the one that did a victory roll over the very british Airfield then land thinking he had crossed the channel into France. Can,t remember specifics but I can remember he was pretty shocked to be bailed up by a chap in RAF colours with a revolver.
There was a telemovie on a few years ago that redid “On the beach”..Not to bad,and yes I can remember War of the worlds, the good one.One that scared me was “The forbidden Planet”.Good to see the Dragons and Rapides coming more popular. An awsome looking plane.Nearly as beautiful as a Spit.
Hmm is it part of the luna landing set???It does look sorta Cr42ish or Glad.Could be part of a PBY fuse??
Wow great work mate.Keep at it and the skinning will make it perfect.Love 3d work and the melding of old and new technollegies is fantastic. We are doing the same thing with our Spit but we are doing it from the inside..
Wow now thats a moment to treasure.
LoL yeah I remember that topic well..
Yes it was more than a quick grab at a few fortresses. The whole thing except for the evacuation would have been described as a bloody shambles.Mistakes were made and countless souls lost their lives for it.It is past now and hopefully the lessons learned there have not been repeated…much. Not having a go at you Brits for your leadership, for Australian incompetance read up on the Gonna Mission attacks in PNG.How many WW1 planes are left these days, including replicas??
“Sure I,m sure,my grandpappy told me this is the best bait to catch subs!!!”
Well Pete,Tigers in the Mud is a biography of Otto Carius and his time in combat in a Tiger tank during WW2.Damn good read and wish I had the book.Well my fiance is in charge of the finances so good luck in asking her about how much she is worth.. :diablo: ..JDK,good to hear about Tolga Ornek receiving an award from Australia.Turkey is pretty much a brother country now to us due to the effort and sincerity they have shown us Australians each ANZAC day at Gallipoli.Gotta remember they share the same sorrow as tens of thousands of them were lost defending their country against the efforts to grab a few fortresses along the coast. And for Maori courage you can,t go past Monte Casino… 😉 I will go and see Flyboys and make up my mind after I have seen it. 😎
XN923.ROFLAO….We are sneaky, being ex criminals and all..:)Pete..give me a movie called “Tigers in the mud” and I would sell my fiance to see the world premier. For a good german epic, watch “Stallingrad”.
As Rommel was rumoured to have said at Tobruk….” give me a Platoon of Australians ,and I,ll take over the world..” :diablo: ……for all time, remember Gallipoli we will.
Well said JDK and today a lot of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels still havent recieved compensation or payment for duties carried out at Kokoda during the war. They only did what any human would have done in those attrocious conditions, without compaints or selfish motives. There are a lot of stirrings about recoveries in PNG these last 12 or so months. It is good to hear that the Boston is going up there as it is only gathering dust as it is in a quiet hangar corner at Amberly.Put it out to the public and let them enjoy it.
