I may be wrong but civil airworthiness certification wouldn`t have been possible with the engines buried in the wing roots….

You may be, as the UK’s first airliner, the Comet, had this feature…

I submit there was zero technology spinoff.

A supersonic airliner?? :confused: If there was zero technology why did it take so long/cost so much/not use the tech today??

Absolutely adore the Vulcan, my absolute favourite, but, the Victor is absolutely awesome!! Fully deserves its place alongside the Vulcan, without doubt. Not many left either, we need to look after them…

I don’t think that cost was just for spar strengthening. It was the cost of a complete strip down, major service and rectification programme, pretty much what 558 is getting at the moment. 🙂

They should paint the Victor in Anti flash white, seeing as she’s the last surviving B1. I think she’d look great with the pastel roundels as well…

And yes you are right in saying that the lottery has done there bit but doesn’t that mean the future DOES look bright?.

It couldn’t have been put any better. If you phone Avro Heritage and ask them how they feel, you’ll get the picture that this is all the doing of ‘the suits’ make no mistake. They have treated the aircraft, and the gentlemen who worked on her, in life and death, with total disregard. Shameful. 😡

Incidentally work started on the main gear last night doing I don’t know what. Draining fluids maybe?

TVOC are on site as we speak removing bits for 558 before she is destroyed. 🙁

Well you weren’t at the event that makes Kev (and a number of others too) so angry.
I was and I know why it still angers him (and them).

What should have been a moment of peace and remembrance almost blown apart by a certain persons inane chattering.

I wasn’t there you’re right, so i’m in no way fit to comment, therefore I won’t. Let’s just find a solution to get the problem sorted instead of yet another thread turning into a slanging match.

I agree with Kev…

I agree that it should be found. I don’t agree with spitting poison in his face at the same time though. Anyway…. :rolleyes:
