Looks like the standard bomb doors have been modified in chord. Jeeps and guns were transported in a similar fashion.
Good old Hally.

Ok, next the Tempest please?
Very nice update, although I couldn’t help myself looking at that big beauty in the back of the last pic.:D

Ok seriously now:dev2:
Still no news what the plans are for Halifax forward fusealage PN323?
It has been sitting gutted since it was transported from Lambeth.
Anyone?

FB.
It was a simple question, nothing more nothing less. Thanks for answering it.

Those rivets in the tailfin of PT462 really stand out, they look like blind rivets. Never having seen them before, are they used on all Spits? Or is this a Dick Melton mod?

I visited Hendon last sunday, very fittingly the 100th birthday of the RAF. Unfortunately it was difficult to get near the Lanc, not only the tail is up in the air but there was a presentation going on beside it where dozens of people where sitting and getting close to it was impossible. Not a very fitting way to display such an historic airframe. The overall feel of the museum was doom and gloom by the way.
This was my last visit to Hendon (poor old W1048):D

I don’t, but we can’t have it all:o
At first I thought it was Whitley which has a similar window. The one I found had HDA (High Duty Alloy) markings on it.

Red, is that the ex Stirling LK488 tail turret by any chance?

Old thread, any new info to add?
If all goes to plan I hope to be the soon owner of a FN20 (without Perspex or guns), it’s on the list in this thread but no further info for the time being.

No problem Malcolm,:D
True, the problem with these projects is that an idea grows into an obsession to achieve a certain goal, in this case a cockpit. While the job is ongoing that is fantastic and you see something evolve before your very eyes. As soon as it has been completed, that’s that. You tinker a bit with small jobs still to do, but that’s it. Someone once told me after completion it will be a milestone around the neck. Well, in a way that is correct.:p
I think most people working on similar projects never think about the future implications when they are no longer around.
Everything has a value, years ago Elliott brokered the sale of Bernie Salter’s Lancaster cockpit.

Malcolm,
With all the years of blood, sweat, tears, effort, the whine of naysayers and of course the money involved to build such a fine cockpit, then just donate it to a museum where it will be left to rot?
You think it is that easy?
I rather cut up mine for parts than doing that.

Thanks John.
Looking for a radiator gauge (non luminous) for my Spitfire IX panl.
