Rob,
Fantastic what you are doing with these extinct types.

That turret certainly would look nice on a Whitley.

Hi Denys,
Usually near the cockpit/flight engineers compartment, that is where they are fitted in the Halifax and Lancaster.
Cees
Even more reason to get it inside.
Cees
Why importing such a thing where there are many sections of (ex-Dutch) Mitchells kicking around Australia.
Cees
Yes and yes, this is an autopilot servo as used in most British four-engined aircraft such as the Stirling, Halifax, Lancaster etc. I used to have
a ful set but sold them on to a forumite. That was before I decided to stick two further feet at the back of the Halifax:D
But they went to a good home.
Cees
isn’t Paul Allen said to have one under restoration.

They failed to mention the very substantial wreck at the Technikmuseum Berlin. Never heard about the Norwegian recovery.
The engine came from another bay? Is it truly from this aircraft or from just another German wreck (Junkers, Heinkel).
Interesting what still lies beneath.

Good to see the Catalina being active again.
I was looking at the Dutch National Military Museum’s static example the other day and it looked very sad dismantled in a corner (not the flying one mind you).
Cees
Thanks Wizard,
Ahh that one. Always like those projects.

Sorry to drag this old (but very nice) thread back but can anyone tell me the basic dimensions of the Lancaster pilot’s seat?
Lenght, width and height. A general arrangement drawing would be great.
Working on a scratchbuild 1/32 seat for my Manchester model.
Cheers

Not to mention the Dutch Douglas A8N, The Fokker D21 (well known pic witht he Dornier X in the background). During an earlier visit to the Technikmuseum there was a diorama of the
original museum collection, it was huge.
Then again, if you count all the captured aircraft after the war, a lot more has been lost. Only read the book War prizes by Phil Butler.

Having been in insurance for a long time (transport and shipping) I finally got the chance to work for a small company specialised in general aviation insurance with the odd
historic aircraft thrown in. Do I like it, yes yes yes!:D

Mentioned before but I always find it strange that unique items are left in store instead of put on display at Hendon. Even if not a complete Siskin is
available, the unrestored wing that is in storage would be great exhibit don’t you think?
And what’s the use of having an overfilled storage anyway.
