A few years ago a 109E was recovered by the RNethAF from the IJsselmeer which came done during the May 1940-campaign. So a very historic airframe for
our nation’s history and very worthy to have been put on display at the National museum. A wing and part of the fuselage was recovered. With grinders they removed the “dangerous”
weapons and since then the remains have vanished. If anyone knows more (Eric?) that would be great but I fear the worst.

Well, we are still working on it, having indentified three previously unknown aircraft in the IJsselmeer in the past few years.
Four new sites will hopefully be investigated this coming summer.

This is getting more difficult every time, what’s next? A bowl of sea water where once a piece of dissolved aluminium used to be (only joking).
