    Hi there,
That is quite a wantslist you have. Have you just started or has this been an ongoing project?
    Just curious.

And not forgetting Lex who built 99% of the metalwork:D
    It was a two-man job.
Noticed that the steering wheel has some corrosion again. Need to fix that soon.

Where’s the rest of it? Perhaps anything useful such as brackets or patterns can be helpful to the Candadian reconstruction project.

It is on display at our museum, only the bottom part of the supercharger (the baby bum) was missing, probably been
    hit by a boat.
Only very minimal remains of the bearers were still attached to the Merlins pick up points, that why I couldn’t help earlier.
I would love to see a Halifax Merlin run and visit your museum as well, especially the Hampden bits when I have the
    opportunity.
    Cheers

Amazing work to see that complete engine bearer. We once did recover a complete Merlin engine from a Halifax but the bearers had been cut with an axe
by the Belgian forced labourers at the time. The aicraft had bellied in and slid to a halt with one wing over a very wide canal. After cutting the bearers the
engine fell into the water and was encased in a metre thick layer of mud. When we recovered it was pristine other than the black finish which started to crack
    and then fell off.

The aircraft we investigate nowadays have been long lost since WWII, nobody knows about them other than a short note in some dusty archive: aircraft crashed .. miles east of .. etc etc.
Think about next of kin. When we locate a wreck and identify it, that is the main goal.
But it is different to others probably, especially producers of tv series.

I agree that recoveries in the “old” manner are nigh on impossible, at least regarding the Dutch situation. Due to environmental issues but also due to complaints from
the official archaeologists. The official authorities seem to use these kind of investigations as a means to keep certain branches of the military busy. The role of the private organisations has shifted towards finding and establishing the identity of unknown sites “anywhere” apart form landbased crashes.
