I fully agree, very interesting to read how your team approaches this task.
Amazing sight to see the canopy intact during the recovery.
Great site,

The Beau is an important aircraft type for Scotland isn’t it? I always wondered why they would pull out all the stops to acquire
it, and then put it in storage. I know, save now and restore later but does that make sense in this particular case?
Wouldn’t a Beaufighter be a crowdpuller for any museum?
Cees
IIRC it uses some modified Mustang wings.

Interesting thread.
I have 500+ copies of Halifax drawings gathering dust now. They are of no further use now the cockpit is finished structurally.

Andrew,
I will have a look, it puzzled me too. Snooping around hangars is fun. It is a wingsection with wingbolts visible. Also bits of Spitfire were lying around there.
There are two Hasting cockpitsections in the pic. The wingsections of either of those are in Canada forming the basis of a new Halifax reconstruction

Hi Chaps,
Just got back fro Malta an hour ago. You were correct, it’s a great place to stay (st julians) , absolutely loved Valletta, seen the War Museum and the Aviation Museum, especially snooping behind the hangars with Hasting cockpits, Mossie remains and some sea wreckage (wings) that I couldn’t identify.
BR108 was impressive so were the Spit and Hurri at Takali. Will post pics when I goy myself back on track.
Cees
Thanks for the suggestions chaps,
Enough to see there I gather.

Fully agree with Tony and Trolly Aux, the general perception on this forum has altered especially the last year. Not in a positive way.
Let’s just wait and see in front of your computer screens sitting in airchairs.
Cees
Go for it, I have a Victor air publication kicking around somewhere.

Looking great, at this stage any progress is very noticeable and very addictive too.

I think we have a prophub somewhere, don’t know if it is from this one.
Cees
Mine too, it inspired me to build my own 1/32 version from scratch

Alex,
Just the man I was looking for. I saw your complete Whitley in the march issue of scale aircraft modelling. I was blown away by the craftsmanschip.
It inspired me to scratchbuild my own version in 1/32.

I have the tail almost completed, can you tell me where you got you information from apart from Elliott?
Cees
Thanks Dave,
I am glad it’s back in the UK where it belongs, also that it will be part of a reconstruction project.
Cees
Sooo nobody is interested in a substantial piece of Typhoon returning to the UK?
There goes the neighbourhood.
