The Mk II had the bomb steering indicator fitted in the instrument panel. The Mk III did not.

In the book “One Hell of a Bomb” it is also mentioned that an RAF base (don’t know if it was Scampton too) had both a Grand Slam and a Tallboy on the gate. Both had been put upright on their noses. These were also said to be “live”. Pic was in the book showing them.

Same story or do all those bases have similar tales?

    Hi Simon,

Thanks for the message, those pics were taken many years ago in the early stages of the project. The cockpit is nearly finished now. If you look at the Halifax cockpit project topic on these pages you can see the build from start to finish and will answer many of your questions.

There was also a build from Halifax-Phil who was very much advance with a 1/48 resin Halifax . He posted on Britmodeller as well.

    Good luck.

    John,

We better get a move on before Cees and Lex get the taste for making a Stirling!!!! 😉

    Not going to happen;)
As soon as this bit of Hampden is finished, that’s it for me. A Halifax and Hampden is enough for me. No further challenges. And it is time to spend money on other things. But there is still small work to do, the devil is in the details as you all know.

The newly made pilot’s seat backrest cushion is fitted as is the fire-extinguisher. The pilot is already trying it out for size.

This is a fantastic project, pity that you (and Spitty) are only replying to your own topic. It is great to see so much effort to recreate a type that isn’t very well represented. Although TVAL have redressed that a bit.

    Keep us informed.
