There is no bombbay as such. the video I have about it’s reconstruction
shows that the used L-shaped wooden formers to give the idea of closed bombbay doors. The fuselage interior is fully fitted out.
It’s simply a magnificent exhibit and night events such as East Kirkby would
be magical.

I love the website update, especially about the history of the Hampden in Sweden, the recovery, the beginning of the project and the current progress.
Thanks very much, the pics are a great help.

Hi all,
Very best wishes for 2012, may historic aviation keep thriving despite the
financial crisis.
Spent the new year in London for a quick visit (about 24 hours) but now things are relatively normal again it’s time to get on with things.
Some years ago I purchased a blank engine limitation dataplate, which is now fitted inside the Halifax cockpit.
For the Hampden I need one as well, and IIRC Guy Black’s company made the blank versions. But I can’t seem to find any info on that.
Anyone of you have further info in this?
Thanks to Elliott, I now have a nice set of throttle levers, thanks again Elliott.
Cheers

MrBlueSky,
No idea, but all I know is that all the HP drawings were saved in the nick of time at night before they were to be burned the next day. They all ended up in the care of IWM, this also includes drawing for the 0/100 etc. I was told by the IWM that the Hampden drawings are to be handed over to the RAF Museum in time.
Cees
Elliott,
Good to hear and nice timing:)
I will be in London next weekend but too short to visit the RAF Museum.
Will have a look in their collection navigator what is available. I noticed that the control column and rudder pedal assembly they have in store are actually not from a Hampden.

Hi all,
Does anyone know what type of compass is used in the Hampden?
Some drawings about the various instrument panels have been obtained, and the hunt is on for the various instruments.
Elliott, has the parcel arrived yet?
Cees
John,
Nice to see that those small bits have a use.:)
For display there were not very useful to us

Nice panel Cees. What kind of BFP are you after?
Hi Elliott,
The earlier one, 6A/616 IIRC, I already have one lined up. problem area will be the fuel gauges.
Austernj673
Thanks, but I already have one.
A lot of the Halifax leftovers can be used in the Hampden.
About the fuelgauges, I remember seing a Hampden panel on the net where the fuel gauges have been replaced with similar items but don’t know if they were British ones.
Any ideas about that?
Cheers

I got that photoalbum at the time (pricey yes), fantastic pics showing Halifax production.
Don’t know if these pics antique aviation posted are in that album though, have to look it up this evening.

Any idea about Lambeth airframes that are going to get the Duxford treatment?
The Halifax nose could use some TLC
Cees
Elliott,
That would be nice too, but space is one thing to consider, available drawings would be nice too. The Hampden is on in my case. I spoke to Harry Fraser-Mitchell last evening to see what’s out there and got some leads.
At the moment I am doing some research about what there is, what is needed etc (the fun bit). Are any reproduction pilot’s notes out there? Have seen the Blenheim ones, Hampden must be similar (orange cover instead of pale blue?)
Do you all want me to start a seperate thread about it?
Cees
Sad to hear, rest in peace..
Cees
The Halifax comes to mind…….
