The Halifax cockpit isn’t going to make it. I doesn’t fit through the
    door of the present workshop.:p

Depends on when you will be back then.

If you let me know when , I can show you the interior.

    Fear not Chox,

    My favourite subject you know:)

Here’s the lastest progress report from the website of 57Rescue Canada

    http://www.57rescuecanada.com/ProgressReports/PReport38.htm

I wonder if Karl would like to include BB214 as well.
As a Merlin engined Hally would make sense and is a bit easier regarding engines, propellers etc.

    Cheers

At the moment visitors cannot see inside the cockpit yet (now that looks fantastic, await the pics chaps, next week when I get to work there again) and from that angle it looks like progress is slowf but it isn’t. The stool is a great help during the painting stage (black) as a few weeks ago I had to work in very cramped condtions and as a result got a back ache that lasted a few weeks and wasn’t very pleasant.

I have sourced four boost gauges now as well some other instruments which will be fitted in the newly painted sloping panel next week.

    Thanks Mark,

Could it be that the pic I meant was published in a survivors list in flypast with the wrong caption at the time. IIRC that issue had a lot of errors in it.

At least the one of MH434 at Harrowbeer, I thought a pilot was walking round the wingtip, but he has vanished now (although can still vaguely be seen)

    Yes Mike,

It was a very careful job but nothing has been scratched;)

Today sprayed some more bits and panels for fitment next week.
Boost gauges have been sourced so well on track now.

Actually I don’t but would like to know more.:o

Getting her recovered would be a fantastic project, even if only put on display as recovered. When I visited the museum in Berlin I was amazed by the Lancaster wreck display.

This part was inspected by some of our group a few weeks ago and it was also thought to be from a Meteor.

I noted that the Halifax wreck with the bombload could be in Lake Maria near Koblenz.
Also that no attempt has been made because people “think” it has a bombload aboard.

If so then the crew must be aboard as well as no unmanned bomber will ever crash in one piece in a lake without desintegrating.

    Any (theoretical) views?

Apart from the deletion of the third fin I believe the span of the tailplane was increased as well and was used on the Lancaster too.

Are you referring to Planet Models 1/72 scale perhaps? Mine is 1/48.

Go for it as the Manchester is a nice looking aircraft.

How about chopping up a surplus Lancaster to recreate a Manchester?

    Ohoh:eek:
