Hi there,
Yes, we have brought this case to the attention to the local authorities and have been in close contact with the recovery team.

A remarkable piece of engineering Cees. 😎
You have to thank the designers at Handley Page for that.:p

Good work done boys,
Next is a Lancaster that crashed near Anna Paulowna, two crewmembers are still missing. Some large concentration of metal have been found on site a few weeks ago by the RNethAF recovery team. Let’s hope the missing will be found and given the respect they deserve.

Imagine Mr Allen having a thing for Bomber Command, now that would be something with such a budget.

Why is it too sensitive to post here? Because it’s another aeroplane magazine? Come on, 🙁
The C46 has a lot of character,

Yes, over the moon and back again:p
Obviously I am very pleased how this project has evolved over the years. I never could have thought that the quality could be achieved as it has now.
Painting it will be fun as well as fitting it out, that will transform a natural metal structure into a fully operational Halifax cockpit.
Several people have asked the same about extending the cockpit forward or backward, but this is as far it will go.
This thread is actually meant to inspire people to do something similar.
How about it chaps, but please, not another Lancaster or Spitfire….:D
Cees
Tadaah!:)
Construction is finished! The last window has been fitted on the escape hatch frame. Now everything that can be unbolted will be removed so that the interior can be painted. This year should see the cockpit mostly finished although the work to install wiring etc. can still be trickcy.
Herer are some pics showing the Lexan in place, one window that had perspex fitted has been replaced as well as the perspex was too brittle. And the glycol spray thingies are fitted as well. Strange that the Halifax had no windscreen wipers, the wind must have taken care of that.
Hope you like it.

Use the search function to see some interesting topics about this Wellington, IIRC the pics are no longer on this site. Pity.

Peter,
Doesn’t surprise me, a new Boly airframe found? Or just one of the large number of complete airframes rotting away in Canada. Until someone European starts asking questions and then the wreck is suddenly very valuable.:dev2:

That extinguisher was used in Mossies, Stirlings and Halifaxes among others, I am still looking for one. Won one some years ago on e-bay but the vendor had sold it on before the autction ended.

Yep, used in th earlier machines, Hampden, Halifax, Beaufort to name a few. Peter if you Halifax panel has a large hole in the top lefthand side next to the BFP, there is where the bomb steering indicator was fitted. When the later Mk XIV bomb sight was in use, the indicator was removed.
They are also quite rare I understand.
Cees
What happened to the remains of the bombed out 184?
Cees
Whitley too? any large chunks at the time Alan? Halifax as well?
Cees
Peter,
I always thougth that a Swedish AF helicopter recovered the tailplane for display at the AF museum and returned it years later.
Cees
Very nice set up, there is a similar display at Elvington.
