I agree, it looks to be a Mk II series 1a
The last complete Halifax was scrapped in 1971 in Argentina.

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh, what a sight, now if a project like that would make a Stirling as well that would be a great sight too.
Cees
Glad that this one has survived as has the other one in Canada.
What has happend to it’s tail?
Cees
I thought they tried to find Jan Plesman’s Spitfire but couldn’t find it.

The completion of this project in 2011.

Any pics of the mass scrapping of Lancasters and Halifaxes just after the war? Or the many Sea Furies languishing at Lasham?

Yes, Lexan is the best choice but bl@@dy expensive.
Cees
Hi Brian,
Thanks for the reply, yes Lexan is used but the window with the blue protective cover is acrylic, it is much harder to work on as it shatters easily and Lex had to use some creative words to show his opinion about this product. We were wondering about the sensitivity of the Lexan regarding paint. So everything should be properly masked off before painting then?

Time for an update, space is getting restricted inside with all those windows getting in the way. Shame on me for keeping retired Lex so active:rolleyes:

Is that the only part that was found?
Not very likely.

Good news to read in FlyPast about the newly discovered Whitley drawings.
Any further info about them?
Also that they went to the right people.

Well I paid less for my control column, but at the time (2003)I thought it was a steep price, it still is the most expensive part I bought for the cockpit project. But as I thought there wouldn’t be a second chance (figures) I did it and never had any regrets about it.
Cees
Figures, spending years making one complete using parts from various sources and now a complete one just turns op.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the value goes up a long way from that.
Happy bidding:cool:

That was the first Spitfire I ever saw up close while at Overloon in gloss blue and D-Day stripes, there was a tarpaulin over the canopy as it was probably smashed. It looked terrible at the time. That was 1984.
