Frankenstein were not the only manufacturers of pressure suits, this one was made for the Canberra high altitude trials by Baxter Woodhouse and Taylor

Great picture, I wonder where that suit / helmet is now…..

Great photos, do you have any more?

Can you imagine what it must have been like trying to fly anything wearing kit like that, let alone a supersonic complex Jet!

    Cheers, Scott.

Does anyone recall when a Cessna landed at Bruntinghorpe carrying drugs? I was living in Gilmorton at the time, and remember seeing the Cessna land, and hearing police sirens on their way to the airfield.

I paid attention as it’s not often a light aero lands at Bruntingthorpe, and we read about it in the paper in the week following!

It must be a bit of a kick in the teeth for the locals, having this happen under their noses.

Hi Milton, great to read about the progress on the bird….

Do you think we’ll be hearing a Lightning sized roar this year? :p

Not strictly an item, but the terms “FWD” and “AFT” are applicable to both marine and air, Just like Port and Starboard. Although Stern and Bow are also used.

Aslo the word “Azimuth” appears in both.

An item: “Hatch” – access through the deck of the ship, and access to the side of a Canberra etc..

“Deck” – deck of the ship and “Flight Deck” or cockpit of an aircraft.

“Torpedo” – the same thing, one fired from a ship or submarine, and the other dropped from a Swrdfish… ok grasping at straws now!

Any idea as to what ARI number this system would have been assigned?

I’m not sure, as I don’t have a concise list of ARI’s and descriptions, but here’s a list I found in an AP which references the relative AP’s.. This above Canberra installation will be one of the UHF ARI’s due to it being an ARC-52 installation.

    Thanks, Scott

Also, I just had a nice email back form EBAY too!

Looks like they are doing something about it. Ebay believe that “hell-wings” isn’t who he says he is… They think his account has been accessed by someone else.

If you look at his feedback, it’s all Nintendo Games, no Flightgear, so Ebay may be correct on that. It’s nice to know that Ebay have acted on this.

    Transcript from Ebay:

Thank you for reporting to us “hell-wings” whose been selling fake listings. I know how worrying this must be for you as other member’s might purchased from them and you’d like their account to be closed, so let me look into this further.

I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you. I appreciate your effort in bringing this to our attention and I can certainly understand how important this matter for you. I’ve reviewed their account immediately and I can confirm that their account was accessed without their permission. It’s likely the unauthorised user obtained the account password using a spoof email.

Rest assured that once we became aware of this unauthorised activity, we took immediate action on the memberโ€™s account and we’re now restoring it to its original owner. I can also confirm that all unauthorised activities including listings has been removed from their account. I guarantee you that we work our hardest to reduce the frequency of these events since we aren’t always made aware of potential problems with an account in time to prevent these rare unauthorised activities. This is very important to us, as we want our community of users to enjoy the best possible trading experience and use all of the features available on the site.

I trust this information helps eased your concern. Thank you for reporting this to us and helping us keep ebay a safe place to trade.

    Kind regards,

I’ve had a nice email back from the Speyer museum, they are on our side with this!

Also I found a form on eBay to fill out to report fraud, so have written a detailed report to them.

Speyer found his photobucket album!! If you want to see some rediculous photos of him, check this out:

I think the first two photos say it all!

    Hi Tony,

Based on your advice, I have written to the Speyer museum, hopefully they take an interest in him and his illicit activities.

    Cheers, Scott.

Thank you for reporting it too.

Hell-Wings has been up to these tricks for years, he’ll have some amazing Helmet & Mask for sale for hundreds / thousands, but you read the small print in his garbage description, and all you will receive from him is a screw, or a washer.

He also has several ebay accounts.. He’ll list something, then bid it up to crazy prices, and win it himself. All in the hope of catching somebody out and ripping them off.

I’m part of a Yahoo discussion group (called “Flyingclothing”) and the subject of Hell-Wings’ antics comes up quite often, we all disapprove of him (putting it mildly).

He’s an out and out crook, and I hate the fact that he’s using one of MY pictures of MY kit for fraudulent purposes. My wife can even be seen in the edge of the photo too – that’s grating on me…

    Talking of scams:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271560108600?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D271560108600%26_rdc%3D1#ht_10096wt_6269

The regular attenders at Cockpitfest will recognise the stand and know that it and the helmets don’t belong to the seller.

As far as I’m aware the seller is well known for this and has been reported to evilbay. Perhaps it’s time to invoke EU Proceeds of crime legslation

    Thanks for raising this Bunsen,

Not only is that MY collection, it’s also MY photograph he’s doctored, I hasten to add witout MY permission, or paying me any photographic royalites!

I’ve reported the ad to ebay, and I encourage anyone else out there who’s willing to do so via this link.

I’ve had a few phone calls form friends who have seen the Ebay ad, offering me ยฃ20 for the lot if I end the auction early! Needless to say, my kit is not for sale, it’s hidden away in a safe place. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s just disappointing how humans are able of being this dishonest..

I wrote him a message on ebay, this was his response (I think he’s in cloud Cuckoo land!):

    Dear garrettandbouchard,

    you force me????
–I have taken this picture officially by myself way back
—-I have also taken officially pics of the BIG BEN in London by my self, so you want this too???
STOP FORCING ME AND MY FAMILY!!!
    thank you

    – hell-wings

    Cheers, Scott.

    OH NO!!

That’s our wedding anniversary, and my sister-in-law is also getting married on the same day too!!! So we’ll be at her wedding…

Sorry, but that’s two good reasons not to be there… ๐Ÿ™

May have to loan Len’s helmet to FlyingSaucer to display for the event…
