The ME 262 was known for having bad nose wheel struts….don’t think so far it has been an issue on the new ones tho….just running off the runway!
Dan-
You mention Academy…what would their full name be, possibly Academy/Minicraft? Might try one of their kits my next purchase, if they go together well….tired of spending money on bad fitting kits….so far have stuck with Hasegawa and Tamiya and been fairly happy…
Mark
Nice, Daz, thanks….forgot about the black one….
Mark
Eh….interesting but not what I’m looking for….want something ‘typically British’ from the war period, something a Mk IIc would appear in….just your ‘average warbird’, as it were…
Mark
That’s almost $2000 for that painting US….think I’ll stick with Robert Taylor at $295 a print…
Mark
Damage is described as Minor….probably be another few months before it collap-uh, flies again…
M
The plane (type) in question…
Hehhehhehheh….good one….
M
Looks like a Tigercat….and I’m just guessing here…..but, maybe over….Herts?
M
The B-23 is still under restoration to fly, yes they still have it, but it’s been under restoration for as long as I can remember…maybe someday it actuallly WILL fly….the routine with the one wheel with the B-17, nowadays it never touches the ground, they fly it by about 10 feet off the deck with the one wheel down….
Last (and only) show I attended at Harlingen was the last show they did there in ’89, so I only ever saw the place once….a 36 hour bus ride from Denver! Went to the first 2 shows at Midland and liked it better if only for the fact it’s a LOT closer…
Mark
I’d get a Dash 4 Corsair for airshows and such…but I’ve had this discussion before with friends, I’d get a B-25 to take folks with me to airshows, a ‘mobile party’ as it were, kinda like Bill Arnot used to do with ‘Silver Lady’, he had a whole set-up in the bomb bay with chairs, coolers, food, umbrellas, everything you needed for a good day at the air show….it was great.
Mark
Yeah, saw the Pitts on the show, it’s white with red stripes, nice plane….Walters said Cruise owned THREE planes, don’t know what the other one is tho….probably a business jet for getting around or something similar….nice looking ‘Stang, tho.
Mark
Yeah, I believe it’s the same one….I seem to recall that the damage from the undercarriage collapse was’nt as bad as they thought it was initially…
I was kidding….actually, I’ve been told that an old tire with proper modifications to the valve stem can serve as an air source for an air brush, just run and fill it up at the ol’ petrol station when you need more air….likewise an old compressed air bottle or something similar….the compressors they sell over here are about $100-$150 and out of my range right now, so I’ll have to ‘wing it’…
Mark
Um….what’s a compressor? 🙂
