Hmmm…encouraging! LOL….I guess I have the Badger 350, seems like a decent enough little brush, just need more practice and to find a permanent air supply instead of these little cans of propellant…

Not gonna get in a big row over this…it’s just a website and when he gets time, he gets time….I know Mike and I don’t maintain http://www.f4ucorsair.com half as much as we’d like to with updates and such, so I know how it gets….Ben, when you get to it, great….I’ll keep checking…and maybe take a peek at Duxford times also.

Problem, Hatton?
If it’s WWII era, Japan wafflestomps the Brits…as they did in real life….modern day, the Brits probably do better, for the above stated reason, and others….

You’re really….QUITE emotional about that film, aren’t you?
It would have been so easy to get the details right….still wondering why they did’nt bother…
And there sits BM597, looking spectacular wherever she goes….no faults in her at all, just a beauty of a plane, admired by all who gaze upon her…
Mark
what time frame?
Got an 8×10 of her on my wall parked on the grass at Duxford, with an Army Jeep parked by her tail….two of my favorite things in the world (warbirds and Jeeps)….now if we could just work in Hockey we’d have it all covered!

Hmmmm….sounds like he’s slacking on BOTH websites to me….maybe needs to close down FlyVintage and just concentrate on the other one….?

We’ve had lots of snow out here in CO, last storm brought a day long storm that dropped about 3 inches of heavy wet white stuff, melted off quickly and we’re pretty much free of the stuff now…the mountains have been doing BOOMING business at the ski areas (ask Mr. Patterson) and our snowpack up in the mountains in most areas exceeds 150% of our normal accumulation….good news for the slight drought we’ve been experiencing for the last 5 years, bad news for those of us wanting to fish in the streams in the sprintime cuz it’s gonna take a LONG time for this stuff to melt off!!

Sounds to me like you’re thinking about the wreck of Joe Tobul’s Corsair, which was in late 2002, he crashed his F4U-4 Corsair in some trees away from some houses that had been in his path after another pilot noticed him trailing smoke from his engine and he apparently lost power…he WAS credited with steering the plane away from any homes or places that anyone might be residing….check his site, http://www.koreanwarhero.com for more…
Bluenoser, did you get the note I posted for you about a week ago about a Mustang out here in CO that is gonna be restored in 352nd colors? It’s an ex-Dominican AF Mustang that is being rebuilt from parts and 25% of an original airframe, it will be painted as GR-P, ‘Three of Hearts’, and is owned by Gordon Page of Denver….I can send the paint scheme if you like…let me know…

HST has no intent of ‘resting in Peace’, it seems…in death he also plans to cause chaos…read tonight on Yahoo news where he put it in his will that he wants to be cremated and have his ashes fired from a cannon! I’m all for it, one last shot at all those who he could’nt stand in life, shooting himself off again…literally. Also read where they think he comitted suicide was because he was in constant pain from a recent hip replacement surgery and a recent leg break, he was on painkillers all the time (when was’nt he?) and was either in a really good mood or really foul, but he was from what folks around him said, ‘clearly not happy’ about the pain he was enduring and finally apparently had enough of it.
Load up that cannon…and someone start a countdown…

Converse’s mother’s plane was ‘The Huntress’ and set a record flying from Denver to Colorado Springs and back….a record that Converse himself broke in his P-51 ‘Huntress III’ about 15 years ago….but I believe his mother flew an A-26, if I recall correctly….
To get Martin Caidin’s take on the whole women in warbirds situ….”I’m all for women in flying…I always have room in my plane for 110 pounds of recreational equipment….”
Not very PC these days….but Caidin, like Hunter S. Thompson, WAS’NT very PC….thank god…

Don’t think so….I know which one you’re talking about, but it is different than the one that was shot partly at the Gathering of Corsairs and Legends back in 2002….that one is 4 discs and 8 hours long and can be previewed at http://www.f4ucorsair.com…might want to take a look. The one you’re talking about is, of course, shorter.

The man from Woody Creek, Colorado who had a worldwide following….and I’m not talking about John Denver here….
Incredibly sad news, this guy was one helluva character out in this neck of the woods, I sat watching the news last night with my jaw in my lap, not believing what I was hearing….he will be INCREDIBLY missed not just in Colorado but all over the states and beyond, I believe….I still like Bill Murray’s impression of him in ‘Where the Buffalo Roam’ though Johnny Depp was good too…

Patty deserves to be mentioned whether she flies warbirds or not….she has done as much to advance aviation for women in general as any female pilot out there, flying warbirds or not…an extremely phenomenal pilot…
