Ahh it’s on now is it? Chris was filming at Enstone earlier this year (May?). If you see a feature with a Golf Mk1 racing down the runway, that be will it. He and the crew seemed very understanding when I interrupted them whilst doing my power checks. If they’ve included a Maule in the edit, that’s me 🙂

Done. Have you seen the complete Petition List though? http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/list

I am half-minded to go and see my MP at a surgery concerning this and the proposed readjustment of fuel taxes for “private flying”. How do I go prepared though?

This is what me and Dean are working toward. 🙂

What prompted a over to the US and how easy could you progress from there, Paul?

I have the above book also 🙂

Apparently there are lots of obstacles and wires crossing the Gaydon runway. Do not attempt to land for you will have a fight with Ford to get your aircraft back. It has happened in the past. I seem to recall the Tower was used in the Rover days as a favourite command post for security.

Here is the small booklet you can pick up for free from the Motor Museum on RAF Gaydon.

The owners of Long Marston supposedly have a serviceable JP which they have flown (in the past). Apparently they haven’t done much flying in it recently. Mainly microlights but there is some slightly larger stuff, I know a Jodel DR221 was based there. The Tower still looks authentic. http://www.controltowers.co.uk/L/Long_Marston.htm

    1. Hard to say. That’s up to the race organiser like F1 to develop the rules in order to maintain interest.

    2. I recall people mvoing to Edge in preference to Extra. This could be seen as the first move to achieving better performance. Whether it spourns new aircraft types is doubtful unless Air Racing really kicks off and attracts mass sponsorship.

    3. Bipes have another wing therefore more induced and parasite drag. Another class or classes for the same event would be fun. 🙂

Yes! A mate lent me the VHS copy he had made years ago. I seem to recall he gace himself two weeks then opted for the most complex design he could think of including an engine located over the wing spar similar to the Bell AirCobra.

In the process of research he came over to England and visited Old Warden, where he used to work for a bit, in order to gain inspiration.

Naturally he failed. All the hallmarks of “how not to do it”

Build new Towns like Milton Keynes, spread out the population and jobs. Then everyone will have a better quality of life

So long as we realise the flaws of past New Towns. Creating a place where people grow with no future prospects of employment unless they move is one point where the ideal failed in one respect. MK itself on the peripheries has as you say a good standard of living. The town centre though leaves a lot to be desired in that it does not exist or at least was not obvious to my eye.
