    Agreed. In fairness to them the construction was ahead of schedule and below budget, and they have already planned how to use the facilities after the games.

    They must have brought in a management team from outside the UK :D;)

    According to some estimates, the olympics will benefit the economy to the tune of £16.5 billion, so we may be in net profit?

    A hospital in the US can’t turn someone away if they require life saving treatment, but this is all they have to do – once they have saved your life then further treatment has to be paid for up front.

    Frankly, I’m of the opinion that the current ‘Obamacare’ (I hate that word, but for expediencies sake I will use it) is actually the worst of both worlds in some ways as it relies on the private insurance companies, who do not have their policy holder’s interests at heart. Incidentally, Mitt Romney’s healthcare reform of Massachusetts was more or less funded in the exact same way – a mandate or tax.

    The sky will not fall, all the fear mongering about the bill is just that. I don’t think the bill will alter patient’s relationship with doctors, and it won’t stop insurance companies from trying to rip off their customers.

    The Turks have openly declared that any Syrian movements towards the border will be considered hostile. They Syrian govt would be crazy to antagonise Turkey yet more in this situation.

    Syria is preparing for an invasion so can’t really blame them.

    I don’t think there is a nation on earth with the stomach for putting boots on the ground in Syria, and this is pretty clear.

    They cancelled their order for some C-27J Spartans, I think it’s mentioned in the news thread.

    The Greef AF flys an unusually large number of aircraft for such a small force, I imagine they will want to standardise on on type as soon as possible.

    Well the lump near the nose looks like a camera in a rotating turret, but that doesn’t tell us much.

    I’ve always thought this aircraft would turn out to be more or less a European equivalent to the Reaper UCAV?

    I can tell that I’ll be drawn into this, so I’ll just leave this as a little summation of my view and leave my contribution at that. Have fun! 😉

    @John Green
    Indeed the EU regulation is a terrible burden for our industry to carry. Our membrship of the EU also means we can’t negotiate our own trade terms which would more favour the type of trade we do, rather than trade terms meant more for the mainland.

    This is true, but it also gives us a great deal more leverage when we negotiate trade with the US, China and the like. The fact that the UK economy is dwarfed by nations such as these means we are unlikely to be able to extract favourable terms from them, as part of the EU bloc we have much more sway.
