    I’ve had similar warnings from this site in the past.

    Sometimes if there is a link to a website that is considered suspect (or even if that site contains some dodgy links), then is can block the page the links are on.

    How are connected to the internet?

    If it’s via a direct connection to a network (such as vodafone etc) then much like a mobile phone, the signal could simply be triangulated via the signal towers?

    If you connect to your home network then it’s possible it is finding your position from your ip address.

    Either that or Google simply ignored you 😀

    Hitting them is one thing, flattening them and anything else within 10 miles with a nuclear missile is another.

    Reminds me of a darwin award I heard of;

    ‘ A homeowner was doing some welding on the roof of his house at Port Macquarie in New South Wales. He had problems with his oxyacetylene tanks slipping, so he decided to tack weld them to the roofing iron. That was the last thing he ever did. When I passed the house the next day, there wasn’t much left of the roof on that side of the house.’

    USAFE 48th Fighter Wing is based at RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk, so most likely from there.

    Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

    Can’t say I’ve seen the original TV series or even read the book, but I found it very enjoyable.

    I don’t believe we’ll ever come across such things as these so-called “Stealth Pods” what Boeing proposed to India for the F/A-18. To me I see that as a step back rather than an “improvment”. Why fit a pod to house A/A missiles when it’d be limited to say Mach 0.8 or whatever due to design when the missile itself can reach Mach 4+?

    Not quite sure what you are getting at here, the stealth pods are essentially just a carry box for the missile, intended to augment other LO features on the aircraft. The missile would simply eject from the pod like it would from any other weapons bay, then fly normally.

    They would also be large and very easy to shoot down, compared to supersonic anti-shipping missiles.

    As someone with no experience in aircraft engineering, I realise this might just be an impractical suggestion, but just how difficult would it be to just rip out the F-22 oxygen system and put in one from another type?

    Surely after 4 months they must be getting closer to some workable solution?

    [QUOTE=Blitzo;1790908]I
    Did the Soviet Union usually display new aircraft so quickly at MAKS and other airshows during the cold war and/or after the dissolution?

    /QUOTE]

    Russia is not the Soviet Union, they have very different goals and perspectives.

    The Soviet Union never revealed any new hardware unless it was already well in use or as part of a deception/intimidation plan aimed at the west.

    Russia’s aim here is to get exposure for their aircraft so they can sell as many as possible, which is why they are taking every available opportunity to get it in front of the world’s media.

    And with an aircraft that looks as good as the T-50, who wouldn’t want one? (RAF T-50!!!….I can dream :D)

    tbh I wouldn’t have thought re-building military aviation will be high on the list of priorities for the new government. I don’t think Lybia has any significant external threats, so they will probably be focusing on internal security, focusing on a small helicopter and reconnaissance force (much the same as Iraq and Afghanistan), for the next few years.

    Assuming anything of the old equipment has survived, it was mostly if not all Russian iirc? Can’t see why they wouldn’t go back there for many of their needs, although I’m sure France would be more keen than ever to sell a few Rafales :diablo:

    I think they’ll build up a helicopter force of Mi-171s, light recon/training aircraft, then look for some cheap multi-role fighters.

    I think it’s rather insulting to call people who are willing to put themselves potentially in harms way to serve their community as ‘muppets’, particularly when they are volunteers.

    Agreed that keeping professionals on board would provide a better level of service (perhaps not the best word, but you know what I’m getting at), but given that the govt is going to be getting rid of many posts either way, shouldn’t you be happy that some people will step up to the mark, for free?
