Yes, they are brand new. They are being replaced to save money on operating costs, with no planned replacement. 😡
Let’s hope their families will not be blamed for it 🙁
Yes, the chart I linked to shows 138 people who have been released and not executed. While this is correct, you are missing the point. The fact is that 138 people have all been deprived of their liberty and put on death row after being convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
Are you claiming that a legal system that can sentence 138 people to death, wrongfully, is perfectly competent at making sure it does not go through with wrongful executions? Are you quite satisfied that these people, who are innocent, not only had to sit in jail, but also had the weight of knowing they were going to be killed by the state for crimes they did not commit?
To address your last point, I think you will find that every trial is held solely on the basis of the fact for that trial. To insinuate that because a person has done x they must be guilty of y is a fallacy, and sets up unfair trials.

I think this sums up my thoughts on the matter:

Didn’t we go over this a few weeks ago?

Kev. As long as this is between us and Argentinia, and others(FRENCH) keep their noses out, I think your logic is right.
Lincoln .7
French meddling?
Would that be when they refused to ship further exocet missiles to Argentina? When they gave the UK specialist countermeasures to counter the exocets? Or when they let Sea Harriers train against their Mirages and Super Etendards in preparation for heading to the Falklands?

Well, not the only alternative, there is always the Mig-29K :diablo:
But in all seriousness, I think that the Rafale deal with France should be thoroughly explored, not just paid lip-service.
Surely there must be some way the USAF can have a final selection that allows no recourse?
Otherwise this will go on forever!:(
I think that aircrew who fought and died to defend the UK certainly deserve recognition and remembrance, and that bombing industrial and military targets was acceptable practice.
That said, there is a legitimate grievance, I think. Allied strategic bombing did kill tens of thousands of innocent people, this is something to be ashamed of.
Ok, so a crazy idea, just throwing it out there – what about an A330MPA?
If UK, France and Australia are all going to be operating it in the future, would the increased costs of running a bigger aircraft offset the reduced maintenance costs of having fewer types to support?
I have to agree with Al. complete shambles from the start.
But…. as with all of these things, it’s done now and will likely happen again with the MOD the way it is.
I like the look of the Airbus A319 MPA alot. It looks like a winner for me and if we can persuade the french to get in on the act I think we will have a winner abroad.
Lets make sure that BAE have a big part to play in it and lets flog it to everyone – lots and lots of export potential.
It looks like a great aircraft and I would love to see it in RAF service, but other than France, which other nation would need it in appreciable numbers?
