I think the situation in Georgia could of also of easliy happned in any of those 3 countires.

What would of the situation been then? WW3?

Yes, but it is rather unlikely.

Georgia has sepratist enclaves within its borders that are backed by the Russians, which I do not believe to be the case for any of the Baltic states, so the flashpoint that caused the Georgia crisis doesn’t apply.

You can be pretty sure its not an off-boresight weapon, very fwe NATO aircraft have that even today.

As for using it against other A2A missiles, forget it. Even if you could get the sidewinder off in time odds aren’t good for hitting it.

The whole idea is pretty pointless, imho

Why do NATO aircraft intercept Russian aircraft? If they are no threat, and you know what they are, why intercept them?

Is it purely to help them navigate through civilian airspace where airtraffic is heavy? And if so, why can’t that be done via radio? Does the interception make any difference to the flightpath of the Russian aircraft?

Is it all built up tension because of the Ukraine and others wanting to join Nato?

This is a bit of a false premise, as we actually don’t know whether these aircraft are a threat. For all we know a Bear flying towards the UK could be laden with nuclear cruise missiles, although this is, I admit, far from likely.

By not intercepting them you give the green light for foreign governments to control your own airspace, gather reconnaisance information and disrupt civil aviation, as well as pose a military threat.

Somehow I think that if it were aliens who can invent ways to travel the galaxy they would have come up with ways to cover their tracks.

Could it have been the space shuttle coming back home? I heard it was due back soon?

You don’t pay VAT on road tax, its just like any other tax, although I’m not sure if they include the duty on alcohol and tobacco when they calculate VAT.

Its really worrying, the ammount the state is borrowing at the moment. Just whose money are they borrowing? I keep having visions of all of Europe and North America indebted to China for a generation 🙁

Quite frankly its been pitiful to watch, no matter what your view on who should have won. Its about time USGov got its act together and decided the matter once and for all.

The only way the Israelis could get away with it is to turn the whole of Iran into a parking lot with Jericho missiles, and I don’t think anyone wants that.

    Hehe,

Sorry Bristol, just a cake related reference to the video game ‘portals’, I couldn’t resist, although it is a little off putting that I’m the only one who get it 😮

How did they get your photo on the cake, printed it on rice paper or something
