RAF Chipmunks did not get repainted into the red/white/grey scheme until 1971 and as WG304 was not retired until 1975, it most certainly would have worn this scheme. Whilst it did indeed serve with Cambridge UAS, it’s final days were with 5 Air Experience Flight at Cambridge also. However, I do not know the transfer date, so am unable to confirm the markings when with CUAS. I have photos of other CUAS Chipmunks but not this one.
Is this what you are looking for?
Thanks Dan, but regret not! This is a Hunting Aircraft Co. pre-delivery publicity photo! I am looking for any POST delivery shots, as I have never seen any anywhere.
Does anyone have any ‘in service’ photos of Iraqi Air Force Jet Provosts?
Gorgeous Mark!! 🙂 Thanks very much for sharing those lovely shots.
Will she come to the Kemble Air Day on 17th June to join Delta Jets’ Hunters?
Well i hope she gets restored to her yellow N.32 colour scheme & not destroyed by another rotten camo job!!!!!!!!!!
Have fond memories of G-AIDN as this was the first Spitfire I ever saw flying in the early ’60s, owned and flown by John Fairey. Would love to see her return and restored in the overall light blue scheme and registered G-AIDN.
This was also the first aircraft I did an air-to-air photo shoot with….watch the mags for the pics! You can see one of them on the link LAHARVE posted.
The Guinot Girls
Well, it’s obvious that any tenuous aviation link is enough to get your pulses racing, so perhaps I should share the rest of the “Team Guinot” girls with you.
I was invited to their Press Day and wingwalker selection day, which did my blood pressure no good being surrounded by all these lovelies…oh, er, and three newly-painted Stearmans (had to add that in, to keep it relevant:diablo: ). These are the eleven finalists from about 300 applicants and here are the two selected to join the team when they operate a 4-ship.
You forget – the moment it is seen flying, commercial sponsors will flock to pour money into it.
Wasn’t that the ‘plan’?
Moggy
Yeah right! If commercial sponsors were going to ‘flock in’, they would have done it long ago in order to get her in the air, so they could say ‘we did it’?:o
Does anyone know when this will be transmitted on Blue Peter?
This Beech 18 has been in these colours since at least 1986, when it was based at North Weald with The Harvard Formation team and used to simulate being ‘shot down’ at air shows by Gary Numnan in his Harvard painted as a Zero!
Yes ,but would it be authentic Albert….? !
Alan
About as authentic as a Red Bull Sea Vixen or a Guinot Stearman;) 😉
I wouldn’t get your hopes up, but stranger things have happened!
Tom.
Actually, the Heron Group are currently looking for a buyer for ‘RG, so I can’t think of a better home, especially as it could earn its keep…hmmm black lower surfaces, green cheatline and Osprey on the tail would be tasty!!
This was one of the birds from so called “Little aerobatic team”, an non-official group of the YAF Accademy (VVA), ad hoc formed at the begining of 1980 and consisted of enthusiastic flight instructors. The group performed just few internal shows prior the official team, Letece zvezde (Flying Stars) w/J-21, took its place. Hope this helps 🙂
Thanks very much for that. I wonder if the Serbian Air Force have enough
Super Galebs to reform the “Flying Stars”. Croatia has “Wings of Storm”, so they must need a team to promote the air force?
Also note that G-AIDL is to be repainted into RAF markings with its original serial TX310
Yes indeed, this is the tail from a Merpati Nusantara Airlines Vanguard in the delivery scheme as per this photo. Not sure which one though, possibly PK-MVW ( c/n 728) that was bought back early by Air Holdings for spares at Southend in 1972.
