The Red Devils Freefall Parachute TeamOK its not Legends, but thats worth a trip for me, especially on such a historically significant day.
That’s what I mean – very poor for such a significant event. No BBMF Dakota, in fact NO Dak to represent the dozens that dropped paras and towed gliders and no B-25 Mitchell. Has TFC’s ‘Grumpy’ gone to the States already? Nothing from France to share the commemoration either
Cos I’ve never seen a Dassault Falcon with bombs, guns or rockets! It doesn’t do much ‘fighting’!
A friend went to Duxford today to see what will be at the D-Day show. He said it was very poor and there was nothing there! The programme for the flying included three Spits, a Nimrod flypast and not a lot else. Also looked at the line-up at Old Warden and that looks equally disappointing. With admission to both shows costing £18 per head, I think I’ll save my money for Legends and RIAT.
I have stacks of JP slides and lots of manufacturers and MoD photos, as I am compiling material also for a JP book, as there is NOTHING published out there on this very much undervalued type. You should also look up the website “Jet Provost Heaven” and contact:

…..of course we are talking ‘serious’ JP photos of course, like this….
Looks black & white to me! 😀
Seriously though – great thread. How many of the Dragon survivors can we get pics of up?
Cheers
James, you do mean “Dragon” survivors, rather than Dragon ‘Rapide’ survivors?
Anyone remember G-ADDI, which is now N34DH in Washington. I flew in G-ADDI from South Marston in 1964!
Will she be flying on Sunday, or perhaps at Legends? Anyone know?
Thanks a lot guys for posting those photos of G-AGJG. She looks fantastic in that scheme and now this is the reason I was interested….this is ME with her at Thruxton in 1960, painted silver, red and white, when it was used by the local parachuting club there. Christ, that’s 44 years ago! 😎

Talking about Dragon Rapides and kids, I couldn’t resist digging out this shot I took at the Woburn Moth Rally in 1988. Here is one for father and son! 🙂
I would like to advise that a Dragon Rapide will be at Wellesbourne Mountford on June 20th and taking passengers on 20 minute flights for 35 quid.
The aircraft will be attending the Vulcan XM655 Taxi demonstration which is also planned for 14.00hrs. There will also be helicopter flights for I think 25 quid.

Which one?
Belfast Sunset
Here is Heavylift’s G-BEPS( formerly XR368) which I took during one my creative moods at RAF Lyneham on 24th Sept.1990.
Anyone know what the status is with Dragon Rapide G-AGJG at Duxford?
Starling work there Black 6
….caw, what a cheep joke!!! 😀
Just a reminder that the Gannet is scheduled to make its UK air show debut at Kemble on 20th June!!
Seriously, I don’t think we do ‘shun’ jets. It’s just that not many are quite into the ‘historic’ category and not as rare as some of the prop-jobs discussed on the forum.
Hi Steve
I visited Duxford last year from Australia and flew in this aircraft – the Dragon Rapide is indeed a great machine and we are fortunate here to have a few varied multi engine DH products both in Australia and New Zealand. Thanks for posting this the story and pics were great
Pleased to see DH Dragon VH-AQU as this is now in England, restored and flying as G-ECAN. The DH Dragonfly was previous G-AEDT with Brian Woodford here in UK.
