Does anyone know if there are plans to run the Vanguard’s engines again this year? If so, when?
Very good “Albert”, but do you have any photos of the Queen’s Flight Herons which I remember seeing in an all-over and very striking (Dayglo?) red scheme many moons ago? (Itwould also make an interesting Corgi scheme 😀 )
Phil
Tut, tut, I wish you guys wouldn’t keep testing my archives….here is XR391 taken air-to-air in 1966 and XH375 at Abingdon on 7th June 1968 making a ‘dry run’ prior to the 50th Anniversary of the RAF celebrations there…..next please? 😉
PS Does anybody have any pics of Royal Navy Tiger Moths in the later silver dope/Dayglo sticker colour scheme. I have a picture of XL714 in Stuart McKay’s Tiger Moth book, which also has a nice black and white image of similar Moth from above on a carrier lift?
Now come on Will, you know all you have to do is ask ME! Did you know XL714 appeared in two schemes? I took the first one with the dayglo paper strips at yeovilton on 9th Sept.1967 and the second one at Chivenor two years later on 23rd August 1969, when it was replaced with dayglo paint.
If you want DAYGLO, be prepared to put your sunglasses on as my archives are VERY extensive and well organised 😎
…you mean like this? YES PLEEEESE!!! I’m sure we would all love a change from the rather boring grey/white/blue scheme.
I want THAT one!
(Pointing to ‘570’!)
Yesssir, would you like jam on it
Will J & oag – CORRECT!
Anyone have any pics of Sea Princes from that era – ALBERT perhaps?
….er, yessir! How many would you like? (Culdrose July 1975)
…or maybe a Wasp?
Loos do seem to be a perennial headache for us…..
every year we book extra, but still have the same problems????????????
Another problrem is,even they have to be paid for….any leads on a more cost-effective solution for 2007 gratefully recieved
…the bushes behind the old Control Tower seemed very popular!! 😮
Albert

Superbly successful event….roll on 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WJ753
From the ‘AR collection’ comes these two shots of WJ753 at Duxford on 14th October 1973 when with 100 Sqn.
Drool, drool, ah more London Airport in the ’50s shots….but where is the Loftleidir DC-3 taken? Have never seen a photo of one of these?
All of these aircraft were included in the RAF review held at Abingdon in 1968 (one of the most memorable events I’ve attendedover the years). I didn’t realise that so many aircraft were exhibited that same year on HGP – was that after or before the Aningdon event? V. interesting pics.
Tim,
It was in September 1968 during Battle of Britain week.
Hi Albert
I have a vast ammount of official and unofficial footage, if you wanted to sort throught it. When I say a VAST ammount, this equates to air show videos and footage taped of the television. Including a DVD of Aerobatic Teams of the World given to me by a Russian Official at Paris last year, Others include Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, the Vikings and many more.Let me know the way you want to go ahead if you need to borrow any of this
Paul
Paul,
That’s very kind of you – PM inbound! 🙂
There is some footage of the Irish Air Corps ‘Silver Swallows’ display team in action at the RIAT in 1997 (on the official airshow video?), the last year in which the team flew their Fouga Magister jets.
I’m not aware of any official footage (to date) of their new Pilatus PC-9M display team.
Contact the owner of this site for more info/footage – http://www.irishairpics.com
Hope this helps
Panther.
Many thanks, I already have this in the collection. I have just received a letter from the IAC stating ‘they have no immediate plans to reform the Swallows with PC-9s’.
Thanks for that update Les. It’s coming along nicely and I first caught this machine in 1989, when MAM first repainted it and it looked magnificent then, so I’m sure it’ll be repeated again. Great stuff! 😉
