Looks lovely!-well done everyone
Can’t see an American jet ending up at Coventry, but hope Kennet take a shine to it!
That shot is gorgeous!
The crack team of professionals that make up Duxford ATC very helpfully made a PA announcement that AR213 was departing to Biggin Hill. Of course, Tower staff everywhere are usually the last to be told anything important, and have to rely on rumour and speculation. ( Yes, I am ex ATC myself)
DCW
Thank you, David!-so, has it been sold already?
Er… where is AR213’s new base??
Thanks for the update! very best of luck, and any chance of some pics?- please??
One P-2 was burned by vandals after a forced landing in 2008:(
The only difference I’m aware of is the arrester hook and that the Nimrod is painted to prevent the salt water at sea corroding it. The Fury is due to fly (literally!) any day now!! -Around mid April it was being prepared to be taken to a “secret location” for assembly and flight test which was due at the beginning of May
Is that the Fury, just about to be airworthy?
= Tim
I wish!!- it’s a Nimrod, the naval version
According to a recent article in ‘Aircraft’ magazine, restoration was put on hold last year after RR’s other Spit (PS853) was grounded with a spar problem, and it has been transferred to Derby for storage
I like that. Red white and blue a few roundels would set that off a treat! I wonder what the cost would be compared to the Rivet Joint?
Quite a bit more, as the airframes would be new!
🙂 Lets hope he got down quick enough before any damage was done.
Too quick, I think!-it bounced about 5 feet!
The pilot actually said afterward that he had to get down a.s.a.p because he noticed that the coolant temp. went over limits as soon as he took off
Wonder how Lufthansa are getting on with their’s!
What happened to the TFC Mossie? The one from IWM Lambeth.
That went to Paul Allen’s colection in washington state. The last I saw of it it was in the same ‘shop as his Fw-190 in Norfolk
