if you look close you can see the shells falling.
other than the obvious westland whirlwind……i’m not sure i’d include the P40 ,it well and truly fought above it’s weight.
the KI43?……always over looked because of the zero and yet in many ways a better fighter…if a fair bit under armed.
John, Tonk. The point is not one of opinion or personal flying/non flying preference. It is one of fact. If this aircraft was used to make a flying machine, the machine that people will see flying will not be this aircraft. So what is the point of destroying it? That is the bit that some of us are trying to get across
esactly,i have in the paest accused of being a fly them all kinda guy….but this should be preserved in the RAF museum, and it could then release the bitsa that they currently on display…and if someone so wish’s that could be a flyer….to destroy an artifact like this so someone can go flying would be a travesty…….not every one should be flown…….the last KI84 in japan for instance was flown in the 70’s…and rightfully is now grounded….for the same reason the KI43-1 in paul allens collection wasnt restored to flying by the alpine fighter collection as to do it to FULL flying specs would have meant throwing way most of the original airframe.
i’d like to also thank all the contributor’s of this thread for keeping us from the colonies informed about the goings on at one of my favorite places on earth.
in my mind a KI 84,,,,,,,,or KI 46?……i dont think 5mill would pay for more than one and looking at the 262 and KI 43 projects i’m not so sure how limited production would work financially?…..but OH to see a hayate mixing it with mustangs in a tail chase!!!!!!…or just to see a KI 46-11 dinah in the metal:highly_amused:……..an MB 5 maybe……..
get well soon edgar
I believe it is a mk 4 zero/90 seat (90 knots forward speed is good for zero altitude ejection) fitted to the Hunter.
would the recent announcement by martin baker to no longer support historic seats be a possible reason he didnt eject?…it has grounded the temora/RAAF museum sabre down here.
That’s a very pretty Waco, Matthias. Thanks for sharing! And my fingers are crossed for the paperwork for ‘OON and the Spitfire.
If any forum members manage to catch up with Our Man At Meiers, could you please buy him a drink from me in thanks for his hard work on the forum?
i wish i could…..but it’s even further for me to come:apologetic:………someone please buy him a beer….thanks for all the updates Matthias.

things seem to have gone very quiet at wangaratta i was wondering if there was any news on the work on this fury plus the other one that is there?
any word on the one that was meant to be sent down under?…classic wings reported one being sent to precision in wangaratta.
if only i didnt live half a world away…..si glad to hear this news…..to Mike and Mr Merry i hope you can get more help as it gains pace……best news this year guys.
if an airframe deserved to go to hendon……A9-13.(T9552)..a bristol supplied kit…maybe the morrabin museum would swap it for the composite one at hendon
Seafire XV PR503 was flown to Oshkosh. It was then flown home and I don’t believe it has flown much since.
Sorry for the drift. Thanks for posting all of the fabulous photos folks. Much appreciated.
Andy
