Nice memories, I wonder how many airfields have this sort of unsecured access today ?????

With all those egg beaters in one place, I would think there will be one big omelette. 😀

To get anything done you have to go to Government Ministers web address otherwise thousands of Civil Servants shove the correspondence from one department to another. Its a bit like the old saying “12 Airscrews required at RAF Pembroke Dock” by the time the 500th clerk reads the memo 12 more Sunderland AIRCREW are despatched!

Friend of mine reckons that’s how he and 999 fellow aircrew ended up in West Africa during the war !!!!

I use to live just up the road from Weston on the Mud, smelly place full of donkeys.

I can remember the first eggbeater days back in the early 80’s, better still I can remember my first airshow at the airport/field in 1973ish, in particular BBMF’s Lanc without an upper turret. I have some pictures somewhere taken by my mother of a young EN830 and a few aeroplanes.

I shared this on the general discussion forum, but as many of you don’t venture into the twilight zone that often for sanity reasons.

A similar thing happened here in Jersey a few years ago, a couple of Aeronavale Etendard’s were booked for the airshow, their slot came up and……nothing, so as in all good shows the show went on. Exactly a week later two Etendards appeared off of the south coast of Jersey unannouced, went through their display, and departed with out uttering a word.

It’s not just the Americans you know !!!!

My mistake, this thread exists in a parallel universe where simulants of Flood, EN830, Mark9 and others exist but in cruder form: http://forum.airforces.info/showthread.php?t=28871

Whatever you do, avoid the trip report forum.

I resent being called crude !!!!

Great pictures, I particularly like the atmospheric P47 shot.

But just imagine if large numbers of these airframes had been saved, we’d all be saying “oh no not another Mossie”

Ok you’re forgiven. Try to get a real car next time 😉

And don’t make it yellow, it attracts dustcaps’ thieves :p (Apparently this ain’t the case for red cars, but I admit my dustcaps are just plastic)

Watch it Frank, I work for a law firm and could get the French thing altered to include person/s from the Benelux countries as well 😀

    I can only get 75 tops… is only a 998 with 4 gears

    I have a 968 with 6 gears. Why don’t you bolt both 998’s together, you’d then have a 1,996 with 8 gears.

Looks like it’s been censored at some point, the serial has been erased.

    Nice photo though
