many thanks for your appraisal of OAG….I’d like to think we give good value to our members….
although OAG is not a “Friends of” organisation as such,I believe we,and all other enthusiast clubs/societies etc of whatever aviation persuasion are Friends of Aviation….
MoTF…amazed to hear UHAS still around, don’t happen to have contact details for them,Fairford AS also if possible please

sobering thought there mate…even more so when you consider the Tornado had been flying in prototype form about 7 yrs previous and was on the verge of starting it’s RAF career…and also the E-3 had already seen about 10 yrs service with USAF and NATO by then and was derived from the Boeing 707,itself concieved during the first decade of peace!!!!

    Mark12,
    WOW….excellent thread you’ve started here…..unfortunately I was only 2 yrs old at the time,so can’t remember it….
if only NealP could get some of these in for Abingdon Fayre next year….;)
ArmWaver….somewhere deep in the depths of my mag collection,I’m sure I have an Air Pictorial from that time featuring the event including a check-list….bear with me mate,& I’ll try to dig it out for you

was at Hendon yesterday as guest of HAA member, and have to agree it was a most interesting day, both with the official speakers and talking to the many aviation personalities present.Having known many of the names for a(very) long time it was good to finally meet them in the flesh.Fully intend to join HAA as a result of the day,and thoroughly recommend next years event to all….WELL DONE TO THE ORGANISERS!!!!!

once again an excellent thread bringing back happy memories of the ‘Weald….some great shows there, now sadly missed
Especially remember 2×109/BBMF formation…seem to recall BBMF clearing away northbound after their display when suddenly the ‘109s dived down from above and behind to bounce the ‘Flight resulting in one of the highlight formations of all time….
also remember Black 6’s first flight from my local airfield at Benson…quite an eventful flight that was an’all….she kicked up a divet on the grass strip r/way 24 slightly tweaking the prop, then radioed in from overhead Chalgrove unable to lower the undercarriage…needless to say this caused some heart-stopping on Spotters Corner at Benson, but thankfully she landed safely, and the rest is history….
may she have a long and happy retirement at Hendon

thanks to all for your replies to my original posting…seems like most of you have had a thumb-wigglingly stonking year….let’s hope that 2005 is at least as good, hopefully better
…my main aim for 2005 is to meet more of you in person, some I’ve met this year and found you all thoroughly decent chaps and chappesses…roll on 2005!!!!!!!!
