I know it’s only a little thing, but the roundels on her still bug me somewhat. How difficult would it be to correct them? Surely a quick visit from Vintage Fabrics would rectify the inaccuracy. (Yes i know it has been covered before, But surely it wouldn’t be that troublesome)
A shame, Mr Weeks seems to have his fingers in so many pies that some airframes fall by the wayside for a time. However, at least we have people like him that are prepared to build such a collection of aircraft for future generations to enjoy. Lets hope he gets her back up in the air as soon as is possible. The lysander has a certain ‘vibe’ i can’t explain. I love to see it displayed, it’s a lot faster than i ever imagined and sounds gorgeous!
Thanks for the update Arm Waver. The example that is now with Kermit Weeks, would this have been previously owned by ARC? And possibly the one i saw at Old Hay?
Can someone tell me what happened to the population of lizzies from the 90’s. The only one flying today is the Shuttleworth example, right?
When i attended Old Hay in ’96 a lysander was present, but i can’t remember which one. It put on a most spirited display though, wonderful against the backdrop of a kentish farm in summer bloom.
yes more please!!! superb photos, bringing back many fond memories as usual.
i’m interested!!!!!!!
moderation time methinks
Bl**dy Nora! How close?!
I can’t believe he carried on after that. I would get her on the ground asap and thank my lucky stars i was still alive.
I will try and take some stills for the peeps who can’t see it.
Lol. A pint of Spitfire certainly drains down the neck fairly easily. The Bottle of Britain and all that jazz. However, i am a bit partial to Greene king IPA. Hmm.
So many fellow floyd fans… Brilliant!
Just finished watching David Gilmour in Concert DVD again. It’s nice to hear a different perspective on some of the PF songs.
(back to historic aviation…)
I seem to remember Gilmours P-51D being static at DX for the past few years, but has since gone elsewhere. Anyone know whereabouts?
‘Look mummy. There’s an aeroplane up in the sky…’
Roger Waters’ father, Eric Fletcher Waters, was killed while serving as an officer with the Royal Fuseliers Company C in 1944 I believe. He died during the British invasion of the Anzio bridgehead when met with strong German counter-attack. The song ‘When the tigers broke free’ mentions this, and the album ‘The Final Cut’ is ofcourse dedicated to his father. ‘The Fletcher memorial home’ is a particularly strong song on the album IMHO.
…
David Gilmour did own a P-51D, Gnat, Cub and Stearman i think. All have been sold apart from the Cub, which he flies occasionally IIRC.
proplover – if there is anyway you could copy the video to VHS, i would gladly pay for the tape and postage!!! I’d love to see this footage!
Wow. Is there anywhere i can get my hands on this footage? I wish i’d have seen that one!!
Looks great – I’ve had serious withdrawal symptoms whilst the forum was down – I started to wonder what else my PC was for.
Rob
