Airfleets report they have 149 aircraft, not bad for a 1p.:)
So could they not drop their least profitable/loss-making routes, sell some of their a/c and focus on their most profitable routes…the term ‘Keep It Simple Stupid’ comes to mind.
Dont forget that whoever is crazy enough to pay 1p for Alitalia also gte handed the debt that Alitalia has-millions and millions!
How much debt is Alitalia in? I heard that by the end of this year it could total as much as £300million in the red…
Is Alitalia in a similar or worse situation than Olympic?
Does this not confirm the need for some sort of Chapter 11 protection status for European airlines, like they have in the US?
Seeing as Oasis are in the light at the moment, anyone else heard that they plan to add 3 more weekly flights to LGW and soon after go double daily?
Josh:dev2:
No…this is news to me, and I even work at LGW for the ground handling company that does OASiS’s check-in!
The skies are getting increasingly crowded. The LCCs have little choice but to tread on each other’s toes more and more often.
Like somone else said in another thread quite recently, Ryanair are like the cancer of the aviation industry – they spread everywhere!:D
I would like to go some where I or my fiancée have never been. That is hard because my fiancée has been all over the world. We decided that we want to go to a place where we can relax because we both will need it after the wedding. We decided against Europe, Australia / New Zealand, and Asia because if we went to one of those places we would be running around trying to see everything that we would not be able to relax. My fiancée really wants to go to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas but she has been to the Bahamas before and the Bahamas do not appeal to me at all. Has anyone ever went on vacation to Argentina or Chile? Places like that appeal to me more.
Wow. Rather limited for choice arent you if you take Asia, Australia/NZ and Europe out of the equation?
My suggestion to you would be Rio De Janeiro in Brazil. I have never been myself, but know of others that have been, and all have said how wonderful it was.
Please let us know where in the world you decide to go…!:D

Hi egpx,
Check your Inbox as I have sent you a PM.:)
Is it me, or does it look like there is a rather large dent in the fuselage at the front of this aircraft, just to the right of the cockpit window???
Some superb shots there Paul, my personal favourite is the first bmi one; it looks like a monster; bearing down on you with a menancing look…!
Although it is of poorer quality than the others, the shot which compares the size of the 747 and Embraer jet is actually quite amazing as well…it really does go to show how big some aircraft really are, and you could not of got two better aircraft in my opinion! Very well done indeed.
Just two questions about the picture of you provided by A Spalding,…how far away from the edge of the runway are you in this shot? I see no fencing or blockade between you and the runway, so where exactly were you?
I found these two pictures of A zone on BA 747s on A.net
They really show how aircraft cabins have changed in just a couple of decades.
1L.
WOW, what a difference…the shot of A zone in the first pic, would probably be the equivilent of ‘premium economy’ in these days…!
To be quite honest, I would much rather travel by Eurostar than fly to Paris.
Even though the train takes longer, it is more reliable and environmentally friendly, and actually gets me closer to the centre (or as near as!) of Paris, rather than BVA, which is approx 1hr 10 mins away by train, or would cost approx 100-120 Euros in a taxi, and do bear-in mind that this is on-top of the cost of your flights…!
With the opening of High Speed 1, the new international rail station at Kings Cross St Pancras, travel times between London and Paris will soon be reduced to just 2hrs 15mins, which is actually quite reasonable.
Sorry, but I just cant see this one working out for FR…but that is just my opinion!:D
Would be interesting to know if anyone else shares the same, or has a similar opinion?
I saw a flight on the Ceefax arrivals page yesterday from LA with a flight number beginning with MY. Was scheduled in at around 1730 but obviously must have been late if this was the mystery aircraft’s flight.
Strange also that it would of landed at LGW, if it was a MaxJet sub-chartered service?
As far as I am aware, it did have 50 pax onboard when it arrived into LGW, and as I said in my earlier post, it was due to depart to STN empty…very strange indeed!
Singapore Airlines are also keen to offer services between the two countries. Singapore Airline’s ambitions meant that using the Virgin brand across the Pacific was a non-starter for Virgin Blue, as the airline holds a large stake in Virgin Atlantic.
Fair enough. Makes sense.
Will things be any different if Singapore Airlines are successful in selling their stake in Virgin?
Are you able to answer my previous question at all…
Does anyone know if ‘V Australia’ and Virgin America will offer special connecting services at all or perhaps even code-share on each others flights?
If you havent seen my Thread, Cloud_9.
In there booking system it shows that you can book Gatwick to Paris Beauvais. But there are no dates so you cant book. Also they havnt announced anything. I was hoping for them to say today that they were going to fly BHD to LGW and a few more routes. Then theres more choice for us rather than tracking accross london
Josh:dev2:
Heya Josh,
I did read your thread; just after posting my comment on this one…lol.:D
Apparently they’re forbidden from using the Virgin brand outside Australia
Why?
If your a business man travelling there on business why are you travelling economy and not business class??
I am only guessing here, but I would imagine that Paul F’s position within the company that he works for does not allow him to do so…, if he did want to travel business class, I assume he would have to fork out the additional cost, at his own expense!
Slight difference, I know, but same principle…my father works for a company in London, and he has to travel to Bristol quite often on the train. Even though he holds an ‘executive’ position/title within the company, he is not allowed to travel first/business class on the train; and instead has to travel Standard class with all the other people, which makes working on a laptop a misery for him!
At least Paul is travelling Premium Economy…shame LHR-PVG is not on a 747 because he could of got a seat on the upper-deck, which is quieter.
Paul, are you going to use the Clubhouse at LHR?
My brother recently flew LHR-SFO with Virgin, and said that the Clubhouse is amazing, and well worth the time spent in there before your flight as he felt really relaxed. B*****d could reply to my ‘goodbye’ text message because he was having a massage at the time…!:D
And, one last question from me…
What is the configuration of VS’s A340-600’s?
If only I could work for a company that would allow me to travel around the world…(day-dreaming!)…
Dont particular like the name ‘V Australia’, but that is my opinion.
I have too other suggestions though…Virgin Australia or V.Oz
