I think NOTAR is based on using the main engine exhaust (on turbine-helos, obviously), so it should be quieter.

No…the NOTAR isn`t based on using the main engine exhaust. The engines spins the gear box which turns the main rotors above and a turbine in the tail boom. The engine exhaust isn`t powerfull enough to counter the torque from the main rotor.

The more number of rotorblades the more quiet it is. It is also available for the lenght of the blade…the longer the quieter.

The noisiest part of a helicopter is the tail rotor…because it spins with high RPM ( >1000rpm) and it`s usualy small in diameter. Thus it appeared the Fenestron system like on most EUROCOPTER helicopters and the NOTAR (No Tail Rotor) as found on the MD helicopters.

I`ve never heard of the speakers installed on the helicopter.

Very nice photos press. The ones showing #112 must be from Pipera, right.
Here is one showing #112 in its first livery. Should there be ahigher resolution version?

Yup…took the photos at the new location in Pipera a few days after it was brought to its new grave..sorry….home. I`m not sure..but I think there`s a story behind #112. It did look pretty neat and tidy when I photoed it. I`ll go on Thursday to see it 😀

The photos with the old livery aren`t working for me.

There is also a I.A.R.-93 flight simulator at the Aviation Museum in Bucharest…at least…there was one. I saw it….and tested it. I`m not sure if the moved it to the new location.

I thought the maximum fuel the MK can carry is 9400kg.
In your F-16C numbers…did you include de maximum..or the normal fuel weight? You took the normal fuel weight for the MK. I`m sorry…I don`t know the figures of the F-16s fuel weight.

The Kirgystan Mi-17….isn`t it the one that crashed some time ago? There`s a film with it spining out of control.
