why not just read it in Wikipedia? here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighter_aircraft#Jet-powered_fighters
anyone’s comming to 2010 riat show? or i’l be the onlt one? 😉
I will be there too, mainly to see the Raptors!
Found it, page 50 of Merlin’s book.
Many thanks SOC. I’m convinced now. Obviously it was my error to stop buying books about SR-71 after the seventh!

Flight profile at separation for the M-21 was Mach 3.12, 72,000 feet. Pull-up and nose-over to maintain 0.9g through separation.
No to doubt your reliability SOC, but from what source do these information come?
Two bended lines at aerea 51
My simple explication for the two bended lines –seeming to be spirals with decreasing radii – is:
1. Guide lines for aircrafts (fast aircrafts with high take-of or landing speeds, of course, needing long runways…) for how sharp to turn right in case of a Rejected Take-Off or an overshot at the Landing to avoid collision with an obstacle.
2. Guide lines for aircraft with very low acceleration at the start (thanks Distiller)
So lets call them acceleration- / deceleration- guidelines!
I think the fuel fraction (definition see here) says significantly more than the absolute values. Can somebody post these?

Speaking of which, I remember some years ago a CGI published, by I think the USAF (Or Lockheed Martin) showing 2 F-22s refuelling, accompanied by another, unknown aircraft.
The picture disappeared after less than one day, and I still regret I didn’t save it.Would anyone still have it, by chance ?
you mean this one?
Auroras are natural light displays in the sky, usually observed at night, particularly in the polar zone. They typically occur in the ionosphere. Some scientists[who?] call them “polar auroras”. In northern latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora borealis, named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for north wind, Boreas.
ok Peter2008 we all know that. But do you know what we are talking about here?
try Scramble, at http://www.scramble.nl/milbase.htm
or Global Security, at http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/index.html
After following this kind of discussions for more than a decade now and after seeing many of these “donut-on-a-rope” contrails over Europe I’m rather sure that these contrails build up under certain atmospheric conditions – by well-known, highflying planes.
Therefore, they are no evidence at all for the existence of an exotic aircraft like Aurora!
It actually looks to be a mix of the X-47 and B-2 – i.e. X-47 body scaled up to B-2 size….
I think it’s about half the size of a B-2 and has only 2 engines, what should reduce the costs significantly.
Further and even more important cost reduction will result when NGB is built in biger numbers than the B-2.
Often on this forum we have discussed prices of fighter aircraft, and my favorite is still this one:

… which gives kind of an overview about how much they can differ from one to another deal!
A-17!
As the F-117 is not a Fighter, the hypothetical A-17 is not an Attacker. It’s equipped with an URL (Universal Rotary Launcher), carrying A2G, A2A, and A2S (Air to Space or Satellite) weapons.
pure fantasy…;)
